Making a Aerdic Spear Templar but have questions

DueceDropper22
I haven't put any skill or stats points into anything. ( I am only level 7) But i am hesitant because I don't want to level up the wrong skills and have wasted them. Can anyone tell me what Skills and stats i need for this build. I want to be primarily DPS build. Or give me a link to a website that gives a detailed walk through for the build i am doing.
Thanks in advance.

I don't have any advice on a specific build, but here's a general tip. When you are starting out make sure to unlock at least 1 skill from each tree, even if you don't use them its gets the leveling started. If you put them in at the beginning you would probably have the 2nd skills unlocked for each line and morphs available. Also don't worry too much about wrong skills and attribute points, even if you make a mistake its super cheap and easy to change them later.

The only advice I can give on your specific build is put your attributes into magicka, for now, seeing as all aedric spear skills are magicka based.

Actually I take back what I said about all aedric spear abilities being magicka, I forgot about stamina morphs :p

Don't be to worried about wasting skills (or attributes) as you can always respec them later (when you reach your alliance capital, there are respec shrines there...)

Respec cost a bit of gold (AFAICR ~30g per skill point and 50g per attribute) so you can't do that all the time, but it can help you try things and change if you don't like them.

Also, by end game you'll have more than 260 skill points to spend, so you'll have enough to 'waste' a bit of them here and there :)

As for your question: I'd suggest you to max your first skill and choose the morph according to your spec (puncturing sweep for magicka or biting jabs for stamina)

You can skip the second skill, if you want...

As for the third skill, Focused Charge... is not a DPS skill per-se, but Toppling Charge is very useful for interrupting casters.

Next, Spear Shards -> Blazing Spear for DPS.

Next, Sun Shield -> Blazing Shield for defense and some DPS when it blows.

Best advice I can give is don't worry about wasting time or skill points. You can always respec for a gold cost to try out different stuff. Plus you will have plenty of skill points to max out all your class skills, 2 weapon skills at least and 2 crafting skills. Good spells in the aedric spear line are Puncturing strikes and you can morph it to either puncturing sweeps if you are magic based or biting jabs if stamina based. Explosive charge or toppeling charge are both good, spear shards is a great skill. There really is not a bad skill in that line, piercing javelin is quite useful if you want to be a caster to keep mobs away from you. Sun shield can give you defense. Breath of life in restoring light tree is a awesome heal for yourself and two allies. Early levels just get one skill from each line on your bar so you can level them up and just play around with the skills, you get plenty of gold to respec out of stuff you don't like later on. Another great skill is repentence in restoring light, it is a morph from restoring aura, it gives you passive regen on magick, health, and stamina and when you can use it to restore health and stamina from dead corpses, even allies corpses works if they fall to really keep you in the fight especially on big trash packs. Just play around some with the skill but most importantly put some skill points into stuff now so you can start leveling up the skill lines.

I know this is a stupid question but does an aerdic spear build actually use a spear as a weapon? I want to run around with a pole and slap people :(

well the spells have the appearance of you using a spear, regardless of what you actually equipped as your weapon. you could have a bow equipped and still cast the spell.
