Have no mercy on your enemies and burn them to the ground with this DK Inferno Mage guide. This build is probably the highest DPS you can achieve while leveling, especially if you use the Dunmer race. While Dragonknights are a mele class, the Inferno staff allows them to go ranged and have high AOE (Area of Effect) damage.

This guide is perfect for anyone looking for a fun & unique build for the console release.

I'd love feedback! The endgame version of the build is coming soon. My apologies for any typos, I just put this up today :)

You might want to provide some screenies of your damage statistics to back this statement up. There are a few things I see right off the bat that can improve the dps here. Please don't take this the wrong way and thank you for the guide but there are a few suggestions I like to make to increase the raw damage output for you.

    1. Torug's pact and magnus'> Seducer and magnus'
    2. Dps is dps is dps, get rid of the skills that don't do any dps or mediocre dps. ie. dragon blood, inhale
    3. Mages skills - meteor is awesome and should be on your single target bar. Inner light as well. You should at least add them to list of skills to level.
    4. Potions? - I know most don't want to put in the effort to run a potions build, BUT using both inner light and sof is a dps increase. Here you'll need to get major sorcerery from potions. This build doesn't use entropy.
    5. Molten Armaments/Igneous Weapons - huge dps increase from (not fully charged aka med) heavy attacks. pro tip: the really heavy hitting builds get the most dps from heavy attacks and molten whip.
    6. Champion points - last i checked elfborn and spell precision are still broken. They do however have a benefit from one point. Finally, Thick Skinned is awesome too.

But all together you have a great leveling guide here thanks again.

Thanks for your feedback. Keep in mind, the focus is on this is that it's a leveling build. It is all about preparing for endgame. At the early levels, magicka is a major issue and you don't need high spell damage which is why I recommended mana efficiency sets while leveling. Obviously when you get to endgame those sets are no longer viable.

It's only possible to get meteor once the main quest is completed (So most likely veteran 1), which is why I didn't include it on the earlier lists to level up. It is the main ultimate for the endgame version of the build, so I'll add info to level up the skill once you get to veteran ranks.

Again, this is a leveling build. I don't want it to rely on potions. (It's meant mostly for newer players) I do recommend using entropy in the veteran 1-13 portion of the guide.

I also don't recommend using inner light at Veteran ranks because Inferno is a much better idea to have on your bar. There are too many other skills to fit on a dk mages bar, so I don't think it's worth another slot.

Molten Armaments will be put on my bar for the endgame version of the build. There were too many other skills that I felt were important for individual survivability while leveling, but I did recommend leveling it up initially in the guide. The endgame version of the build is actually very focused on heavy hitting heavy attacks so we're both thinking along the same lines :)

I've never heard that elfborn and spell precision are broken... Do you have evidence for this? I would immediately take that off my guide if it's true. That's pretty upsetting :(

Thank you once again. I will add some more clarity and recommend to level meteor once at Veteran rank 1.

Broken? The debate is whether it's broken or just intended to be an extremely small bonus. Putting 30 points in to each yields extremely small bonuses. I don't have the link to the previous posts, but lets say spell erosion at 0 would yield (example) a light attack for 2000. With 30 points in to spell erosion it will yield around 2060-2100. Same with Elfborn. I believe it scales off of the spell crit already applied. So if you have 20% in bonuses, 30 points would give 10% of 20% so a 2% total bonus. Crappy. Broken? Probably..

Folks more versed in this can correct me if I'm wrong.

According to many, many tests it's the most beneficial (for me!!) to unlock 1 point in elf born, 1 point in spell erosion & 10 points in staff expert. Rest of your CP, put them in Elemental expert. At some point, it will be better to start putting points in staff expert, but I didn't have a chance to test this yet.

Just keep in mind that there's not a "best set up" for CP's.
It depends on which skills you use, your class, your race, gear etc etc.

Some players might wanna debate about the CP's, because after testing their results will be different from mine.
I do know some players getting higher results with 10 points in spell erosion for example..

It takes a lot of testing to determine your best CP setup, that's all im trying to say:)

This is a very amicable answer and most in line with what I was attempting to convey originally. :)

Like I said you have a great guide and it looks like you've thought long and hard about what to include as when as reasoning as to why not.

The only thing I would reconsider is the inner light and sof combination. Although not great for leveling, at endgame build the combination (while using spell detect potions) is currently top in dps. Now I know your not going to want to add it to the leveling section as a whole build, but I recommend at least instructing to level inner light along the way so it's available to those who eventually consider the sof/IL/detection build at endgame. Nevermind I see you've added it under the 10-50 section! ;)

I guess I looked over your mention of MA/IW in skill leveling sorry about that.

Yes. Dunmer, Altmer or Breton are all good choices. The highest to lowest damage respectively.
