CONSOLE: Anyone finding it hard to find Iron ore?

Rysiris
Rysiris
I don't know if this has been addressed but Is iron ore hard to find or is it simply over farmed in the starting zone is there a way of buying it?

    I'm asuming this is console...
My guess would be overfarming right now as Everyone is in those starting zones. Ores are usually found near rock outcroppings, cliffs and such.
You may be able to find some on Guild Traders that are around, you can find those by opening your map and looking for the Trader icons.

First, as soon as you can grab the keen eye passive, it helps.

Secondly. Yes. It is over farmed. Was the same way at PC launch. Once people start to level and spread out it gets easier to find

Yeah, right now at console launch iron is bound to be over-farmed (and the same goes for jute and maple). It definitely was on PC for at least a few weeks after launch. You're probably going to have more luck finding it on the starter islands than in your first full zone, because not everyone knows to go to the starter islands in the first place, and even when they do most people don't spend nearly as much time there as they do in the first full zone.

Also, definitely look for it in more out of the way places. Nodes close to towns, quest hubs, etc will get grabbed almost as soon as they spawn. Nodes that you only get to by exploring mountains, or going around the shoreline of an island, are less likely to be have been collected by others. Bonus: looking for ore in out of the way areas also makes you more likely to find chests!

Probably not as much, as there shouldn't be quite as many players in the zones where you find it. It'll still be relatively over-farmed compared to higher tier materials though.

I struggle to find it I have been getting around it by stealing weapons and armour dismantling it to get iron bars and creating my own gear to then dismantle that for maximum exp

I am new, just started on console, and I can tell you already that relying on iron ore deposits is a bad idea. Loot EVERY heavy armor or metal weapon you find. Just since monday I have already taken in more than 400 iron ingots, while only a very, very small fraction of that came form ore deposits.

Yup! I deconstruct almost everything that I can find.

Yeah, it's a bit of "BS" the way it goes down. It makes it almost impossible to learn/ train in a skill. Maybe if the programmers set it up so the a "single" is locked out from using a deposit for 24 hours or so would be a better idea.

That's based on the zone you're in. In the starter islands and the first full zone of your alliance, you'll only find iron ore, raw jute, and raw maple. In the second full zone you'll start to find higher level crafting mats.

What skill? You lvl crafting skills best by deconstricting loot.

This is not unexpected, so I have been trying to keep mats like iron ore, rough maple, and raw jute in stock in my guild store. Check the guild stores if you cannot find any in the wild and really need some.

I'm on ps4, and I've deconstructed looted/stolen gear to the point that I have vr1 crafts available to be made, should someone get the mats. I have an over abundance of craft mats. So loot the dead people and steal stuff, you could get your crafting mats easy.

Also, keen eye passive works wonders, makes it very obvious, and you can also get upgrade mats if you upgrade that passive too.

Sometimes when I'm just trying to get through a zone, I'll follow the edge of the map as much as is possible. I find all kinds of nodes that don't get hit much. Also lots of chests!

Check rocky areas and mountains. It also helps to have the keen eye perk. It will light up the ore

I'm playing on PC, but I was asking myself the same question actually ... is there maybe a add-on that would tell us where the Iron Ore are located, just like the add-ons for Lorebooks & Skyshards ?
