Bound Armor is remarkably bad?

I just unlocked the bound armor skill from the sorceror class, daedric summoning skill line. It gives me, wearing light armor, less than a 5% increase in my total armour, along with +5% total magicka. I don't understand how this could be worth a skill slot in any situation? That additional armour is completely negligible, and 5% magicka is hardly worth shouting about.

Is this supposed to be purely cosmetic? I don't think the other classes have slotted cosmetic skills. Why not make the visual part of the skill into a costume and sell it in the store?

It would make a respectable passive, and I understand that sometimes some skills are going to be under/over powered and balancing can be difficult and all of that... But this is barely better than having a skill that doesn't do anything at all. I don't see anything comparably bad in any other skill line. Even if the armour bonus was quadrupled it would still be marginal, so why does this skill exist?

If this skill does scale to 4-5x its effect with leveling then I can see it being semi-useful, but when you're looking at putting a skyshard into it and using up a slot for an extra <1% damage mitigation, I'm really not feeling it. Am I missing something here?

It scales up to 8%. The magicka version has competition because mage light gives 7% magic 4% regen and 10% critical. A lot builds only use 1-3 attacks and the rest is utility so giving up the slots for mage light + bound shouldn't really be a problem if you want all the raw damage they offer. The only thing comparable is the night blade who gives up 3 slots compared to the sorcerer's 4 slots but they are 2% spell power behind.

The stamina morph on the other hand has no equal to compare it to. It may very well be the second strongest physical damage buff right under major brutality as the CP system progresses because weapon power caps out long before stamina does.

So the magicka morph is under mage light but above other magicka based toggles and the stamina morph is above every thing but Major brutality. Minor ward and resolve are both underwhelming as is. 1.3% extra mitigation is just not noticeable even if it adds up to the bigger picture.

While I've seen it used by caster DPS sorcs, I feel its best used in pet builds. My pet build stacks Max magicka for increased damage, as the higher your total magicka, the more damage each pet deals. The morph Bound Aegis, at lvl 4, adds Spell Resistance and 8% Max magicka.

Yea it's worth more to pet builds for scaling and it stacks with necro 5 set's12% magicka bonus.

Well in 1.5 it was quite viable for sorcerer healer, I got an armor increase from bound armament and combat prayer, but now both spell gives same minor buff so it is nearly useless.

I am thinking to take it off my bar, I mean light armor nerf + minor/major buff not stacking my sorc healer is in really *** place at the moment, I mean if a group can get a heavy armored Templar healer, why they should take me instead.

I never use it anymore, as usual, Mage Guild skill is far better...

5% armour bonus when wearing Light Armour is like wearing an extra layer of shrink wrap to stop a nuke.

if you stack it its worth something, but otherwise i just want it to change visually - looks like garbage, well the art and armor of concept looks good but it should look something more like the bound armor in skyrim, or maybe just a purple aura that hugs the body, i want to see the armor i worked for or made and not some weird looking replacer daedric armor

Yar, the cosmetic change it hits you with is annoying, doubly so because while you can equip costumes over it, you can't show your armor! Also it isn't only 8% magicka. It is 8% magicka, 2% spell damage from expert mage passive, health regen from being a summoning skill from the passive, stackable minor spell and armor buffs which sre modified by your passoves and champ points to be a small but real mitigation gain, and if you pvp leaves it usable with radiant magelight. Alternatively youcan use Bound Aegis alone and use spellpots to get the crit and major sorcery buffs, which is what I do on most of my caster setups, and not use any magelight. For one slot there, the Bound Aegis is supreme =).

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!
