If your heart is set on a DW magicka build than an altmer is probably your best best. If your thinking of vamp than dunmer would be best. I prefer bosmer for the stealth detection and sneak attack bonus, but lacks the magicka boost you get from altmer which can make things difficult at times.

DW magicka is viable but lacks sustainable dps. It's all about the burst. Get in get out and gank people from horseback. Get ready to be disappointed. You can't dodge roll like a stamina build and you will be spamming dark cloak to get out of combat and be plagued with the problems associated with cloak. Many people get frustrated.

4. It depends on whether you want to focus on magicka or stamina. For magicka, you should roll a Breton/Dunmer/Altmer. For stamina, nothing beats a Redguard/Bosmer, or Imperial.

I rolled a Nightblade because I wanted to try my hand at a magicka build that can sapsapsap mobs. However, the two best abilities in dual wield (imo) rapid strikes and steel tornado, require stamina. Lots and lots and lots of stamina. Trying to run a magicka based NB but with stamina ability requirements is going to be barely passable at the pre veteran level. Once you get to Cadwell's Silver/Gold you just might have to respec and make a choice. This is what happened to me. I tried doing exactly what you are trying to do. I ran mostly magicka class-based abilities with only two that required stamina which were dual wield abilities and even then I was struggling. The moment I chose to center everything around stamina with magicka abilities for support, everything became muuuuch better. I could throw up Relentless Focus, and start Double Take then run into a mob. Start spamming the crap out of steel tornado and occasionally activate Sap Essence. With Flawless Dawnbreaker slotted as the Ultimate, I can pretty much rip through a crowd of six or more enemies and just let the bodies hit the floor.

1. Only if they cost magika, some class skills morphs don't (e.g. ambush. killer's blade e.t.c).
2. Only if they cost stamina, staves are weapon skills but cost magika.
3. Yes, but not very optimal*
4. Redguard for stamina builds, Breton for magika.


*If you're going to make magika DW build the only point you'll get from DW - more spell power (if they will not fix that bug/feature), you'll get somewhat more DPS but stamina build will grant you more burst DPS anyway. So if you want to maximize burst DPS, stamina builds are more optimal for NB. And magika builds are more tanky/survival. So for magika NB build good choice is 1h&sh.

Magika NB should play tank role in PvP. So at least 5 heavy, 1h&b, sap essence and they are very good in assault groups.

Agreed, sap tank is still a viable build if you like that sort of thing. My light armour nb used to be a beast with sap.

I have a dual wield Magicka bld NB,
HOWEVER
I don's use ANY dualwield skills that i use,

I have 2 swords purely for the increased Spell damage it gives me.
