Returning player, looking for a Shaman like build

Hi All,

It's been a while since I've been around, and I've been mulling over how I'd like to start playing again. I've always enjoyed Shaman-like characters: EQ, DAoC, Vanguard, WoW, etc. I love having utility, and being able to deal damage. While I'll probably do a lot of solo play, I also enjoy grouping when I can. I'm also hoping to be able to PvP.

So what class/race/skills would you suggest? Any guide/build links?

I'd read a Blood Mage build (I still have it bookmarked) using siphons to deal damage and heal the group. This seems like it would be fun...but is a NB healer viable? Can this be a DW spec?

Thanks for any help I can get!

the only set-up that can work as a primary healer in most trials is Templar + resto staff.

IMO, Dragon Knight is the closest to being NAture powered. Fire is a normal abiltiy for druids and shamans to use in D&D, earth always makes sense for them, and what other type of classes BUT nature-based ones use powers of an "animal"

blame WOW, but of the ten races in the game, Orcs seem to fit a shaman the best. Nords can also work thanks to their whole history and all-maker religion.

Magicka nightblade spamming Sap Essence, Funnel Health, and Mutagen can add a decent chunk of heals to a group while DPSing, but it won't pass as the primary healer for the group, and your DPS won't be that great. It works great as support or backup if the healer can't pull his weight or people keep running away from his heals though.

Heres my setup for my resto / dps shaman. Healed peldges and vet dungeons well enough. I took Nord for the rugged passive and extra health. Used heavy headpiece and shoulders bosmer motif and the rest using light armor argonian motif. Resto staff on both bars though you can use dw or sword and shield for the dps / utility bar.

    Healing bars

    Mutagen
    Healing ward
    Inner light
    Restoring twilight
    Combat Prayer

    Quick siphon
    Structured entrophy
    Inner light
    Restoring twilight
    Healing springs

    Utility / dps bar

    Inner light
    Restoring twilight
    Shattering prison
    Velocious curse
    Endless Fury

Its an unorthodox gear set, with amazing magicka recovery due to using seducer and magnus set. I find the mana management to be much better and the twilight provides additional dps output plus the mana return any tine it is unsummon or killed. Just as the Clannfear can give 35% health back for the sorcerer tank, the matriach provides amazing mana management.

Love how I can literally take direct hits from adds and mobs and still aurvive due to rugged and the max health passive. It is a good way to extend the fight when all seems lost and the armor just looks amazing.
