Templar leveling plan. Possible? (skill points amount)

Its me again. Since we are closer to the console release I try to plan my leveling so I don't spend time searching and be in position what to put skill points on... In my plan I ve chosen the absolutely necessary skills/passives to level up as Templar and be able to survive and do dungeons and who knows, maybe I can also solo some group content ? (I ll try my skills on this, I don't know how it is going to be).

I got the game for pc at February but something happened in RL and did not played it..now I got it on console too and this is where I am going to play..I miss the transfer so any play time on pc now will be wasted..so I just do some research and planning on builds :)

I love crafting and I certainly wanna be a crafter on this game. On my templar I will level Blacksmith/Woodworking/Clothier. So this is what I am going for.

This is 89 skill points...Is it possible to get those skill points (getting every skyshard, doing dungeons once during leveling)?? I hope I can get this before I start leveling on VR content.. after all these I plan to continue with some passives
wtsmuhK.png

Any thoughts?

PS. I really need to invest in crafting. All I care about is pve and to just be able to survive while getting to VR14..after that I think I ll have enough points to put on other things as well.

EDIT: Forgot to say that I am planning going 5 Heavy / 2 Light and main bar : Sword and Shield , second Bar: Restoration Staff. ALl points will go to Magicka.

But how many did he have upon reaching level 50? (assumed you did all skyshards of your faction zones by leveling :) )

Nice. I ll try to complete all quests and do some pvp on the way :) I hope the first ranks on pvp are easy and fast :) Are there things to do in pvp to help without being a vr14 or have an optimum pvp build? I mean gathering resources for siege weapons etc? I am not pvp player and have not read about cyrodil but I am willing to try in ESO.

First PvP ranks come quickly and you get a skill point per PvP rank you earn... so even if you don't normally PvP, it might be a good idea to just try PvP during a weekend.. should net you a couple of extra skill points (Introduction quest in Cyrodiil is a skill point also)

Thanks ! yeap thats why I asked :) If there are fast and easy skill points to be aquired then I am all for it :) But once I see the ranks come slow, or need much more time than just leveling and going for shards then I ll stop. I guess I can do the first 5 ranks for 5 skill points..

My DK in DC has just recently reached VR1 and has around ~100 skill points, with no PvP done (except the tutorial quest.)
Those are mostly questing/skyshards/public dungeons and some of the normal group dungeons.

2(starting small locs skyshards) + 5*5(large locs skyshards)+5(coldharbour lock skyshards) +(3*5+1)(group dngns quests)+6(public dngs group chelenges)+49(levels) = 103 sp (without quests) + 10 sp (for main quest line) + 2 (for Sheogorath's book mage guild quest choise) + 3-4sp (don't remember for questline in every large loc) so you'll get about 120-130 sp if you'll do all PvE until starting cadwall's silver witout PvP.

PS: But why don't you spread craft between several alts? (It takes 1-2 days to make lev 15 alt that will have enought sp to level craft skilline to top)

Thanks for the input! I read about crafting that is better to have blacksmith/clothier/woodworking on one character because you need to learn traits and motifs once..i ve also read some people have all crafting profs on one character si i guess the skill points at the end will be enough..

I just wondered if i would be able to have a good combat setup and crafting as soon as i start vr content..

IMO, don't bother with any of the Keen Eye, or Hireling skill points.

Hireling was nerfed big time in 1.6 and all they give you are mostly basic stuff, and maybe a blue temper, rarely purple and almost never gold.

Keen Eye you just don't need at all, but if you really want it, one point is definitely good enough.

There is 12-15 points saved for you right there. (That's nearly 45 skyshards!)

As other have said, spreading out your crafting among other alts makes it much easier to try out new builds later on, including switching from magika builds to stamina builds etc...

eidt: just checked my lvl 45 DK and he has about 96 skill points, so your goal is easily attainable. The more the better though, especially for trying out builds and skills and having flexibility when that skill you thought was going to be awesome turns out to be a dud (happens all the time with Templar).

That is a good idea, but I'd maybe recommend having that equipment crafter character be an alt rather than your main. When I started playing at launch I planned on only playing one character ever (oh man, that sure didn't last - now I'm a full-on altaholic with 16 characters), so I did all of the equipment crafting on my main (I didn't bother with consumables crafting until later), and while leveling to vet ranks I often found myself feeling like I needed to run to Cyrodiil to grab some sky shards in order to get another skill point or two so that I would actually be able to have the skills I wanted for combat as well as my crafting skills. It's not such an issue now that I'm working on Cadwell's Gold, as I've got enough skill points now, but while leveling up through my home faction it was a little iffy.

So I'd recommend having one alt as your equipment crafter, and another as your consumables crafter. Make them characters that you may want to play at some point too, because you'll want to level them up to around level 16 or so anyway, so you may find yourself playing them more later.

Oh, and in order to make sure you've got all the skill points you want (as well as to make sure you level up properly) i strongly recommend that you make sure you do the starter islands first thing after you've completed the tutorial (well, maybe join the mages guild and fighters guild first, but then head straight to the starter island quests). There are sky shards there (as noted by @dancing.in.the.webeb17_ESO 2 skill points worth of sky shards), and by the time you've completed everything on the starter islands you should be level 7 or 8, and well prepared to begin questing in your first full alliance zone.

Also, when you hit level 10, go to Cyrodiil and do the tutorials there. You'll gain a couple of skill points from that, a little gold and gear, and you can safely grab a couple of sky shards and lore books there without ever leaving the safety of your alliance's home gate area.

It's also probably a good idea to get all racial passives and most (if not all) class passives as they become available. You're going to want all of them by the time you hit VR1 anyway.

@UrQuan Thanks a lot. May I ask, is there something that you are going to miss if your crafter is not high level? I mean if you reach the point to unlock all crafting skills you need, is there a disadvantage? Are there any bound materials/Armor that I could deconstruct and get good materials etc?

Also if I level alts for crafting and then wanna play them, wouldn't I wasted many skill points early on on crafting? But you are right, I am an altoholic too and I don't think I will only play 1 character..but if I am going to have alts for crafting I think they are going to be just for crafting :) With so many character slots, I will not have a problem hehe.

@danno8 I am gonna play in console and thats why I am thinking invest on Keen eye..in pc, I can load HarvestMap and move towards nodes and easily spot them..but in console I will not have addons and if the graphics are lower as they say, then I think that I am gonna need keen eye. But I may be wrong..only if I tested I will be able to know for sure

The only disadvantage is if you're doing a lot of crafting writs and have trouble getting to the drop-off point for the writs when the level of the goods is significantly higher than your level. The only place I've really ever seen this be an issue is with writs where the drop-off point is in Malabal Tor, as the drop-off is in a city that's full of enemies until you complete the questline to re-take it for the Dominion. So that's really only an issue for AD crafters. Oh, and if your crafter hasn't completed the Messages Across Tamriel quest that you get at the end of your alliance's last zone then you won't get writs of a high enough level that they need to be turned in in Coldharbour, and if your crafter isn't VR1 then you won't get writs of a high enough level that they need to be turned in in Craglorn. That's unlikely to be much of an issue though.

If I remember right I had around 130 skill points by the time I hit level VR1.
