(Bug?) Rally's final heal.

Hello everyone.

I encountered a problem while I was trying to see how much Rally could heal.
The HoT is working fine and I didn’t have any problem. The problem was the last heal:
At the end, Rally heals you depending on how much time the buff was active on you.

I tested it by getting hit by tigers.
I didn’t do anything expect blocking from time to time to prevent my death.

I got some weird results: most of the time I got healed from 5k to 8k, but sometimes, I don’t know how to reproduce it, it only heals around 750, here is a montage of several tests:
1431898109-bug.png
I only have one screenshot of the "750" case, even though I tried to reproduce it several times, but it happened to me several times before this screenshot was taken.
I should’ve taken screenshots before, but I didn’t know if I did something wrong or if I was misunderstanding the log.
(I still don't really know what is happening).

For info I am Veteran 6, DragonKnight, werewolf, with 14581 max health.

I used this addon:

Thank you. :)

I have also been noticing varying results on this "Final Heal",

It does not seem consistent with what the tooltip says,

    Thank you for the feedback.

DK bros, don't hesitate to try this out with the addon several times and give feedback.
If it's a bug, we'll all be happy to see it fixed:)

Edit: I forgot to say that in this test, I left the buff for its full duration. I did not override it to get the last heal.

Also, the last heal seems to be caped at 50% of the buff's duration. So 5k heal after 33 seconds, and 5k heal if you override it around 15 seconds.
Test it for yourself to be sure

Yeah the last tick will randomly occur as normal tick instead of the big final heal.

    I don't think that's correct.

The way I understood it, it heals you NORMALLY all the way down.

*IF* (and only if) you hit Rally again DURING a currently running Rally... it will give you a huge lump sum of heals.

This sum will depends on how long you have the current heal running.

For example (numbers to show ratio, not accurate).
    Assume Rally got 5 ticks. Rally: 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100.

If you hit Rally right before the last tick, it's much bigger than if you hit Rally right after the first tick.
    case A: Rally: 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - Rally: 500 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100.
    case B: Rally: 100 - Rally: 200 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100.

    I'll test again later.

Tests made in those screenshots were taken from a full buff duration. I did not hit Rally before the last hit.
    I only use Rally once.

    What I did was :

    Rally : 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100.
And then when the buff goes away by itself I received the last heal.

In your test you are applying Rally again, and yes it's working as intended when applying the buff again.
It seems that at around 50% of the buff duration you'll get the max burst heal possible btw.

I just tried it again while writing this and it happened again:
    1432563826-test.jpg
[...]"Focus your strength and to gain Major Brutality, increasing your weapon damage by 20%.
Also heals you for 523 (568 because rally gives Major Brutality) every 2 seconds and an additional 801 when the effect ends.
The final heal is increased in proportion to the length of time Rally has been active. "

I get the 801 heal, but it ignored the duration of the buff. The thing it that it does not happen all the time.

    Here is another test:
    1432564466-bug2.jpg
Here we can see the 801 heal of the tooltip, full buff duration, I did not cast Rally again.

And here is the result on the next fight:
    1432564544-bug3.jpg
Same duration and all, but this time I got the full heal, not only the 801 base heal we can see in the tooltip.

    Good info.

Then yes, I guess it could be a bug.

I *RARELY* if ever, if use Rally only once, EVER see a bigger tick at the end.

It's usually just same tick all the way across.

I cannot say anything about that 801 healing not at the end either... maybe in my case it does, and that's why i dont notice anything different at the last tick.

PS: if i hit Rally *again*, there's a big difference for me between somewhere in middle, and close to the end. i'm VR14 Stam build, and if I hit it again RIGHT before the last tick (around ~1sec before effect ends), then I can crit around 6-8k heal...... :)

if i got igneous shield (bonus healing first 6 sec) right before that second rally, that's even crazier....

PPS: I guess my point is, i don't really care about that little extra buff at the end. it's always better to hit it again before it ends. I use FTC and it shows the current buff/debuff with a timer. that helps.

I always re use it before it ends too :) It's only a small bug and it rarelly happens, it's hard to reproduce this bug several times.

To me it seems to be a small code mistake, I think that :
When re casting the buff, they check the actual buff duration and temporarly save this variable somewhere in order to apply it to the heal, before deleting the actual buff and applying a new one.

But when the buff ends, I think they want to save the information about the duration and apply it to the last heal calcul, but the buff itself is deleted before it can save this variable, like it's the "buff" itself that is trying to do the calcul before deleting himself.
In that case the variable returned for the calcul is 0 and we have a 810 + 0.
The deletion of the buff happens too soon and sometimes it'll work and sometimses it won't.

I'm not a pro game dev but this kind of thing happened to in Unity me when I tried to delete the source of my information or action too soon.

It couldn't do the thing I asked him to do because it took too much time to execute and he deleted himself before it could do it.

(it's in "spoiler" because it is probably false and not usefull for other players).

The 50% thing I said might not be true because I had a hard time trying to not get a critical heal on the last heal (I only have 20% O_o), and I'm pretty sure now, according to what you said, that I missread my log.
