templar tank/heal leveling plan

I am planning to level my templar once game release on console and try to figure out what skills worth spending cp so once I am at high levels to be able to tank or heal. I also want to level up crafting skills since i love crafting and i love creating my own armor. my solo build is going to be:

Puncturing sweep(aedric spear), repentance(restoring light), deep slash(1h & shield), defensive posture (1h & shield) and lastly i will have grand healing (restoration staff) slotted just to also level the resto staff skill line. My question is what are the absolutely necessary passives/skills to have/invest for later group play so i dont waste my skill points early on that i ll need them.

I am asking because i want to save as much skill points as possible for crafting without dumping very much my ability to perform the 2 roles (tank, heal) effectively. I am a pve player and my group content will revolve around dungeons..i may involve in cyrodil for fun but i dont care to be effective there..i ll just try to help with whhat i have.

I plan wearing 4 heavy armor and 3 light while leveling. And also i plan leveling blacksmith(one-hand weapons, heavy armor), clothier (light armor) and woodworking(shields, resto staff). I may also level other crafting later on if i get too much skills that i will not know what to do with them (hopefully :) )

You forgot the no. 1 healing skill in this game: Breath of life.
Apart from that channeld focus and blazing spear are very usefull for healers, blazing shield is good for tanking.

If you're going to spread your skill popints wisely you should spread craftskills between your alts on account. It's better to level upto 10-15 leves (and harvest skyshards from staters locations) 3 more alts who will level craft skills.

Thanks both for the advice :)

@dancingclowneb17_ESO I am not fan of alts and try to avoid leveling a class just for something..I heard that skills are around 300 (after a very long play of course). Are they not enough to be a good crafter without being combat effective? I hope I will not need alts for crafting..only maybe for extra inventory..

It is enough, the problem will be before you get all those 300. In the early VR levels you may feel the pinch if you also have quite a few crafts levelled up, although many have done it.

Theres only 3 heals you need as a templar, Healing springs, Breath of Life, and Ward Ally. Everything else should be utility and offense. Healing springs stacks up to 3 times I believe.
I'm kind of a small deal!

hm.. So do you think is better to concentrate only on tanking role and then also level healing when I have the extra skill points? I thought to slowly level up and have my crafting skills also leveled in a point that I can craft usefull armor/weapons to aid leveling. I always do this in MMOs :)

I may stop at certain level and spend days to farm and get my crafting on par before continue...So I will better then focus to get only the tanking skills and passives and then when comfortable enough I will also level and buy healing ones.

By level 50, if you collect the skyshards and complete the storylines of each zone, you should have enough skill points to fill every class ability & passive, along with your armor passives. You'll even have some leftover for a few weapon abilities. I suggest you think very hard about how you want to progress, however. After veteran ranks, you will start earning Champion Points. Unfortunately, very few options are useful to both healers and tanks.

I would suggest this: Focus on your class skills first. These will be useful no matter what you choose to do in the future. Start by wearing 5 pieces of light armor and 2 pieces of heavy armor. You could even use 5 light, 1 med, 1 heavy. This will help you level several armor lines simultaneously. You want to use mostly light because you should build your mostly magicka-based class abilities during levels 1-50. Start at level 1 by using a 1h/shield for your weapon, but use mostly class skills for damage. I would suggest the following bar: Puncturing Strikes, Sun Fire, Ruched Ceremony, Pierce Armor, and whatever else you want. Rushed Ceremony will keep you alive. Sun Fire will draw enemies to you, and Puncturing Strikes is great for close-range combat. Always keep at least 1 shield ability on your bar so that the skill will level up when you turn in quests. The 1h/shield will help you with survival in your early levels. Once you hit level 15, put a restoration staff on your off-hand bar, and start working on some of those abilities.
"Things which are alike in nature grow to look alike, and the speaking stones have lain a long time lookin' at the sun. Some believe they descend with the lightning, but I believe they are on the ground and are projected downward by the bolt."

Shouldn't I focus more on Heavy Armor if I want to play a tank down the road? Is 1 piece of Heavy armor equipped enough to level the heavy armor skill line?

If you want to get both light and heavy until vr1 1heavy is not enought. I leveled universal (all roles) templar in 5 heavy + 2 light all with training traits (but he is breton and has light armor exp bonus). I'm thinking if i need to level med and have no reason exept 2% attr bonus with undawnted passive (and loosing 1 light piese bonuses).

I also gonna play a Breton :) So I ll stick to 5 heavy - 2 Light then.
