Update tooltips

Dear zos,

Please update all skill tooltips to correctly show the following information.

What an ability scales off
What an ability uses as its damage type
Whether an ability uses weapon or spell power
What champion points it is directly affected by

As well as the existing information on cost, range, damage, etc.

This would help significantly with understanding which skills, morphs and where to spend champion points.

Thanks.

It's pretty straightforward now: If the ability requires stamina, it scales off stamina, weapon power, and weapon crit. All tooltips say, "Deals xxxx magicka damage," or, "deaks xxxx physical damage." All the cost & range information is already there in the top right-hand corner. The champion point tooltips explain what damage types and stats it affects, and putting this info on the skill tooltip would be superfluous. Most of the information that you're asking for is already there, and the rest just requires just a small amount of thought about the game's mechanics.

    No. It's a twofold question..
    1. Why have stamina abilities that apply magical damage - it screws with champion point allocation.
    2. With the champion system do class abilities that are apparently using a blade get bonuses from just magic damage or also Blade expert (for example). I have not seen a clear description as to what is affected by what.
    3. Are there any cross resource effects (cost stamina, scale magicka or health) now or in the future.

That is what I was thinking. Plus making it clear for all players, esp new ones should be generally useful.

For blade expert it says "increases the damage of light and heavy attacks ...". I can't see what clarification you need, it increases the damage of light attacks (left click) and heavy attacks (hold your left mous button) and doesn't effect any skills.

There are cross resource effects, but they are allready explained in the tooltip.

Erk, I think my reading comprehension needs work.
I obviously wasn't reading the champion system tips properly in my example (the point I was trying to make was to make it easier to see what skills are affected by which champion point allocations - esp where it is less obvious)

I guess I was thinking it would be clearer if the skill tooltips provided all the information in a block format and then provided a description.

I can't blame you for being confused, @Jar_Ek. This game has had difficulty with mechanics and tooltips from the get-go. Back before patch 1.6, all class spells used magicka & spell damage, and all weapon skills used stamina and weapon damage. However, anything within melee range used weapon crit, and anything outside of that used spellcrit. It has never been clear how damage and resistances are calculated. Some buffs/bonuses appear to be additive while others appear to be multiplicative even though the wording of their tooltips is identical. When something doesn't add up, I hear players ask, "Is the tooltip showing the correct values?" Even 1+ year after launch, figuring anything out still requires some degree of guesswork because the API of this game is so obscured.

Perhaps your reading comprehension does need a little work, but this thread touches on a larger issue:
The inconsistent and oftentimes bugged tooltips, passives, and abilities still need alotta work.

No, the tooltips are blatantly wrong in a number of cases. See fossilize, sea of flames, and empowering chains. Plus they don't reflect the impact of champion points AT ALL.

Tooltips have been an ongoing problem from the beginning in this game. ESO launched with tooltips that had been wrong/had obvious typos for a year and were mentioned countless times in testing.

For whatever reason they don't seem to want players knowing how things actually work.

lol, to see how things work you need 5 seconds in game.
i wish ZOS would fix not working skill, not do stupid text work... though, maybem they can at least last, dunno.
