Seducer vs Magnus

As a healer, I have been using nirn traited 5p Seducer for the longest. I have been considering 5p Magnus to replace it, due to high magicka recovery (I use 3p healer with Engine set). Havent really had a problem with my abilties, with the exception of times when Breath of Life is needed. In this case, magicka takes a bigger hit. The 8% reduction from seducers is nice, but what are some thoughts/experience about using Magnus instead?

Until nirn trait is nerfed, I don't see any other sets worth giving up the substantial spell resists I get from it, although I do feel a little rediculous being a vamp standing in a fire aoe at times... however until its nerfed, I wouldn't give up my nirn traits.

If you are sorc porting a lot get Magnus all day long. Also, Nirn is more for pvp, in pve damage is avoidable you should go for bigger heals.

In my opinion, Magnus > Seducer. Free breath of lifes! Plus, the spell damage will make them stronger. Double win. :D

Magnus for sheer power and burstiness, Seducer for reliability and sustainability. Personally I greatly prefer Seducer because I can spam my abilities all day without worrying about magicka, and it even allows me to branch out into heavy or medium armour if I need to. Sure Magnus may do the same amount of reduction, but it's rather unstable.

Lets say you cast 100 spells that cost 1k. Thats 100k total. With Seducer it's 92k straight up, with Magnus its 92k on average. Could be more, could be less.

The real question is which do you prefer? Personally, I dont see how anyone would choose Magnus over Seducer.

One significant difference is the spell power bonus. There aren't many sets that grant spell power. And unfortunately it's a 4-piece bonus, so if you go with 5/5 Seducer, you're not getting that last bit if you use a staff. That's why somebody might settle for 5/5 Magnus instead.

4/4 Magnus (Spell Damage) or 4/4 Seducer (Sustain) with 5/5 Arch Mage (Magnus bonuses with Seducer 5pc) and 2x Healer or 2x Cyrodiil Light rings.

It's a great setup. Can still have 3pc of Nirn. Which with the broken mechanic right now is more than enough for most situations.

Archmage is a better alternative for the 8% cost reduction, albeit a whole lot more expencive and hard to get.

Magnus can be your best friend or your ultimate enemy. Long time ago I did some tests and had insane procs with it but that still didn't convince me to go with it and replace Seducer. I've been using Seducer ever since it was a 3 piece bonus and only 3% if anyone remembers. :)

I would use magnus if it would let you try to proc it when you were out of mana. As it stands, seducer is more reliable.

Magnus has essentially the same set bonuses as Archmage, for which people pay a fortune. The only real difference is that Archmage has a neck, so it can therefore be combined with a crafted set (typically Seducer or Magnus) to get two five-set bonuses on a dual/ wield or sword/ board build. That's overkill on recovery.

I think the real answer to "Seducer vs Magnus" is as follows:

    - For group PvE, neither, and certainly not Seducer. Get more spell power and use potions/ elemental drain to keep your magicka up
    - For soloing/ leveling PvE, anything you like
    - For PvP, match your set to your playstyle. Some people really like the mega-sustain builds and succeed with them (remember, you need stamina regen, too). Others prefer burstier builds with more spellpower. Some compromise between burst and sustain. It will all work, if you have gear that matches how you actually play in Cyrodiil

People value recovery stats too highly. I run around PvE and PvP in 4x Martial Knowledge, 4x Healer's Habit and 3x Torug's Pact. There's only one magicka recovery bonus in all that. I like the burst, and I'm willing to manage my magicka more actively with pots and debuffs.

Reliability is king, so Seducer all the way.
