2H Weapon Type Passive Bonus

So... almost everybody i know in PvE and PvP uses swords.

Because, well, swords add 5% damage if u level up ur passives.

BUT...i've been testing a maul, which gets to ignored 20% armor, and been using the Penetrate trait (or whatever that increased armor penetration) and i've been seeing some really good numbers in PvP. And really, PvE is good too, but i don't raid that often so i can't really measure the DPS difference.

Why do people still stick with Greatswords? The looks? Not aware? Or really, 5% bonus dmg is better than 20% ignore armors?

I use FireBreath (reduce armor AoE cone attack) and start spamming Brawler in PvP and dicing everyone's up.... Even using Wrecking Blow i'm getting somewhat higher crit number......from 6-9k now i can hit up above 10k..........

at least in PVE, it could be because not a lot of things have an "armor" stat. It could also be easier to get a good sword, then a good maul. not sure though.

does anyone know about his for a fact? tested n stuff? does mob really have zero armor? i know raid bosses do, but i dont know which else.

but then again, those bosses are the ones that matter anyway :dizzy:

heh...but you're right. could be easier to have drop swords than maul. Ravaging is nice from PvP and I can think of Dreugh King slayer set is a sword too....

    Crafted though, can be anything...

It depends on the boss you fight and how your champion points are allocated and how far along you are with them. In the beginning maces are better due to the free auto 20% armor pen, on top of the 14 from the weapon. Pour everything into mighty and you have a hard hitting menace easily.

Near the end though having maxed out mighty or piercing, you'll find the extra damage from the sword is best in the end. Of course, you could be like me and use a sharpened sword with 20 in piercing and the rest into mighty
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

I've actually switched over to Maul and seen a very significant bump in damage in pvp and to bosses in pve. Penetration > a small weapon damage increase.

Wait, people use Brawler in PvP? Tell me, why this is a good option? I didn't use it until now, because the damage and shield (and overflow) are not good enough in my opinion to justify it over other abilities.

And i use swords, because they look better and the DPS between different types of twohander is overall the same. Maul is a bit better against tanky enemies, Swords cut better through light targets. On top of that, i don't know in which order the percentage armor penetration works, before or after flat armor reductions? There are some abilites, that reduce the opponents armor, if the armor penetration of Maul applies after it, then it's strength is much less.

From game mechanics, i think that greater fracture for example applies before mace can ignore your opponents armor. In this case, i would stick with swords.

Brawler is good if you just want to hurt people EASILY and stay alive.

It's not meant to kill somebody specifically.

Best to use when in group and fighting against big groups.

It's cheap, it protects you (every swing), and has a decent DoT, and no max limit on how many you hit.

I personally rarely use it, but when i'm buffed to hell by my group and other skills, and we jump straight into a middle of a zerg.... yeah. spamming brawler is a LOT of fun.
