The lack of poison/disease damage dealt by NPC's

Does anyone else find the lack of Poison or disease damage to be disheartening? The preference for Npc's to use fire almost exclusively in itself is rather dull but the virtually nonexistent use of poison or disease by npc's strikes me as exceptionally boring. Yes, mages flinging fire around can be fun but I can only watch the same animation so many times before it becomes overly common. Everyone and their mother spouts or shoots fire. I have noticed that most of the necromancers in game at least use some sort of dark "magic damage" instead of elemental damage, which is a bit more fun because its simply not fire. Thankfully there are a few mages and enemies that use ice or lightning but this is rather rare. By having ice and lightning rare damage types it limits builds and armor and enchantment types that are viable. Furthermore, poison and disease even more unusual and as such any buffs against this damage is almost a moot issue. When I first made a Werewolf I thought oh cool, I'll have to watch out for poison damage. As it turns out, nope... not really I don't. I love the game, don't get me wrong. I just wish there was more variance. Perhaps food for thought concerning future updates and zones? Thoughts?

I've had plenty of ice thrown at me in PVE, and lightning from magey AOE attacks.
What I lack in gameplaying ability I make up for in smack talk.

@Duck , There are some mages yes that use Ice and Lightning combined with Atronachs and the like but they are certainly fewer in number than Fire based mages or enemies. They are there fairly often though and that's much more than I can say for poison based or disease based attacks by npc's.

Now that you mention it, I have noticed that there's really no poison/disease damage dealt at all by most NPC's. I would imagine it would be rather intelligent to weave that into the lore.

Imagine mobs/cults/villages that build themselves around specific types of magic. Not only would it help break up the monotony, but also assist in spreading more damage types around. It would give the perception of a larger variety in the world.

I mainly see fire, some ice, and a little magic damage. The prevalence of fire makes being a vampire a drag sometimes in dungeons. Some more variety would be appreciated.

I completely agree and I initially thought they used a ton of fire to discourage Vampirism but then one would think they would do the same with Poison, but they haven't. Perhaps Werewolves aren't as big a scourge to their populace as Vampires but vampire or not, the fire damage gets monotonous.

LMAO! I thought the same thing. But in all fairness, about 97% of the npc' seem to use fire spells. As I have both Vamp and WW characters it is kind of a PitA for Vamps.

Disease is definitely rare, but I do see poison a bit from spiders and places like the third stage of DSA. Also Selene's Web etc.

My main is not either. I have alts that are both. This is a completely unbias opinion as far as Werewolves and Vampires are concerned. This is simply an observation about the typical damage types seen in the game and the developer's preference to fire first, ice and lightning second while giving almost no attention to disease and poison.
Do you play a Werewolf and notice yourself getting downed easily by poison damage? I know on my Werewolf alt who's just entered the Veteran stages, he doesn't seem to have any issues with poison.

I'll be perfectly honest, I have no idea if I've ever been poisoned or diseased do to the minimal ui used by the game. I have noticed sometimes I seem to loose a bit more life then normal in some rare fights, but couldn't tell you why.

I used to have that problem @Chuggernaut but then I got an add on so I could see what the heck was happening to me. Although, there are times when I don't use that add on because I do appreciate the minimalist UI for immersion.

Spiders are out there in abundance they deliver poison. Few other NPCs to. You just notice fire more cause it's flashier than other effects where a poison effect is more muted. Besides that point, werewolves wouldn't be bothered by poison unless they wolfed out anyways. Derpires are always endanger, and its well deserved.

My wolf tears through spiders, so not sure if they do have poison attack minus the pool attack you can sidestep without issue.

I switched from Werewolf back to Vampire just a few days ago, and I can say that there is lot more fire damage than poison, but at least you (usually) see the fire coming. When I was a Werewolf I had to be very cautious to not let the big snakes in Craglorn get close enough to venom spit me!

Ok so we have the ol snakes and spiders that spit poison through venom and spiders are all over the place so I'll give you that. What uses disease to wreck people that's out there in abundance?

There are plenty of NPCs that deal poison damage. Spiders, snakes and Scorpions come to mind.

Upper Craglorn is a poison fest. So is half of normal Spindleclutch and Selene's Web.

    Not sure about disease.

Mostly just creatures that deal poison though. I think it would be cool for there to be assassin types or poison damage from archers and dual wield rouge types too. Also, I'm still really curious about the disease. I almost never see it so I like equipping it on my melee weapons. The animation for critical kills is pretty sick.

My main is neither a Werewolf or a Vampire. I mentioned this in an earlier reply actually. My next highest level alt however is a werewolf and I love playing him. I do have a vampire but he's only in the 40's. My point in creating the thread wasn't about class or structure at all. It's just about how noticeable it is that certain damage types are largely favored over others by the developers.

My main at VR6 gets absolutely destroyed by spiders if I face them in WW form... They're pretty much the only thing outside of world bosses and group dungeons (well, and Craglorn if I'm soloing) that have a chance of killing him.

Yeah, I didn't read the entire thread before I left my reply. It was said in jest ... to be honest, I never really noticed it, but I did notice that when my main became a vampire, I died a LOT more then cured and became a werewolf. Now the bosses are no problem for me to solo when transformed ;)

Yeah, spiders poison and I believe the zombies/husks/fiends use the disease attack. The problem with them is that they are pretty easily avoided.

Ahh there we go, That's right. Zombie's and Husks do use disease. You're correct about the ability to avoid it rather easily but we'll count it as progression in this thread towards disease damage haha.
