Can't Pay Bounty. Now What?

I forgot I had no cash on my alt and I now have a 3.7k bounty which I can't pay. The bankers won't talk to me, sooo I can only beg or try to collect junk to pay off my bounty?

No, that's the thing. Even when they kill you, if you don't have the gold to pay the bounty it doesn't clear the bounty.

Your Bounty decays over time. I haven't figured out the exact formula yet It decays at a rate of 22.5 gold per 3 minutes real time, Offline or Online. BTW, 3.7K is nothing, you can lift some Green/Blue items from around Town to make that kind of Gold in maybe 20 min.

Awesome. BTW, don't suppose we could get 1 Skyshard per Outlaw's Refuge to help deal the added 16 points in Legerdemain could we? Not to mention the added points in Alliance War too.

You can send a mail with the money (with another alt) to a friend and ask he sends it back to you. Then you open that mail with your current alt.

I figured it out. Bounty decays at a rate of 22.5 every 3 minutes (450 Gold/hr) regardless of whether you are Online or Offline. That means the 3.7K you got up to will decay in just over 8 hours.

I like this idea about the skyshards. Although that kind of forces an RP play style. This would also cause problems when the Enforcers finally arrive, as they can't access the hideouts.

I gotta say this disappoints me, what are the drawbacks realistically for being an outlaw if you have access to everything in an outlaw's refuge that you care about within a city?

To my knowledge you are only an "Enforcer" while wearing the Tabard for them. I would think ZoS would make it so that when you aren't wearing the Tabard you can do as you please. And keep in mind ZoS added the 16 points in Legerdemain but also 8 (including morhps) points in Alliance War but didn't add ANY Skill points or Skyshards to the game. They said a long time ago with new content comes new SP so hopefully they toss us even a small bone of 5 SP via Skyshards in all the Outlaw's Refuges.

Don't worry. I'm sure that many people will run up such a super high bounty spamming skills in the cities that they won't have enough money in the bank to cover the bounties. With the way they were spamming their skills yesterday, I wish 1.6 would go ahead and be live.

I don't think this loophole should be fixed... I mean.... Don't want to be mean but if you're drowning deep in the bounty you've willingly acquired for yourself and can't pay for it, it doesn't mean it's broken... It means you failed as a criminal and that's ok. :pensive:

I mean, even with a banker in the outlaw refuges, this can also happen if you're bad enough to wipe all your money (or if you're starting fresh and this is your first character)

I think it's actually cool to have to rise from the deep sh** hole as a better criminal that will be able to pay off their former failures  :disagree:

If you wait 15 minutes like this, you unlock a new skill line : "beggar" with special emotes !

Skill 1 : you can now ask npcs to give you some money (amount depends of your race choice).
Skill 2 : "king of the fair" : unlock a new dance to impress you audience ! Become a juggler or a musician.
Skill 3 : drinking master : you get free beers in taverns

Passive 1 : Increase stealth by "x" points
Passive 2 : You are so poor, you are like a npc... you can now be killed by players :p

You might be innocently joking, but good ol' Ultima Online actually had a skill called Begging.

It allowed you to beg NPCs and kneel before 'em in exchange for a few gold pieces. Every attempt lowered your reputation, however, which was one (out of two) ways of the game to keep track of your 'alignment' (Reputation & Karma)

The higher the skill, the greater the chance of the NPC giving you gold.

    Ahhh, Ultima Online...
    MMORPGs at its best.

Does not seem to be accurate in all cases. Just got a small bounty, 9 gold on my lowlevel char, it seemed to be decaying 2-3gold per few minutes.

I'm pretty sure it works out to a set percentage of decay depending on the total amount of the bounty. That has been my experience so far.

No it's set per the max bounty for your level.

So, max bounty would clear in the same time any level.

Perhaps make players with a bounty free kills for more law abiding players around same level. Ofcourse, people would start to abuse this immediately, by getting big bounty and letting a friend do the kil and share the cash.

So the bounty payoff would need to be some small % of total bounty, and then a cooldown on that account for some hours.

This system would make sense if the only way you had to deal with it is if you chose to and not by accident. Not when you are following a quest line to assist villagers in killing monsters and a villager jumps in front of you in the middle of a battle. When you penalize subscription paying players for trying to follow a quest line it makes no sense at all.

That doesn't always work in that situation.
