Hey guys. looking for a magicka DK build. is Sword and bored/destro still viable? I'm trying it at the moment but without any healing defbuffs that cost magicka (if there is any I cant see them) people can just /dance and literally soak my damage >.> my whips hit like a wet noodle, my shields don't do anything, the only thing it seems to be good for is spam heals, but that can only save you so long. I've got gear "seducer/warlocks with taurogs on sword and bored). It also seems talons does literally nothing but dump magicka, Even if I spam cast it, no root, no dot, really annoying! any help greatly appreciated. Note I'm in Australia, I average 280 ping on good days. Would this by why I hit like a noodle and my talons don't snare?

Sword and Bored! Haha! A good one!
@d0e1ow: There is no singular thing within a game's little ecosystem that will convince you that you hate the game, hate your life, and hate everyone around you faster than the game's official forums will.

@TaffyIX: Life is too short to get upset by a video game.

Sword and Board + Destro is still totally viable. You just have to gear a bit differently. You probably can't play in full light armor as magicka melee. Divine Force has a nice set of videos about new DK magicka builds on YouTube. I could pretty much tell you a build but I don't really think that would help you too much. Here are some things to keep in mind for ESO 2.0+

    1. All magicka skills scale in the following manner: ( MAG + PWR*10.46 ) * COEF. Stacking spell damage is good. But you can also stack max magicka since itemization is more difficult for spell power.
    2. Magicka regen is uncapped. More things can increase regen as a percentage. For example: champion system passives, alliance war support passive, light armor. Also see (3)
    3. Magicka cost reduction is semi-nerfed in the following way: all skills have a base cost which you cannot go below. Therefore a stated X% cost reduction, depending on which order it is included in the cost reduction formation, will most likely not influence the resulting skill cost by its stated amount.
    4. Most jewelry enchants have been nerfed, excepting cost reduction which is very efficient now.
    5. Everybody and their brother is running stam builds these days. Mitigated 10k+ wrecking blows and snipes is a critical component of not dying. There are only a few ways to achieve physical damage reduction: more armor, blocking, dodging, shield stacking. Pick one.
    6. Unless you know what you're doing in Cyrodiil, drop vampire. You'll get one-shotted by siege.
    7. Unless you're an idiot, get werewolf -- 15% free stam regen, yes please.

Could you tell me what number the COEF is based off for the magicka damage? Sorry if I sound noobish, but I never really knew the COEF part haha.

I can't really help you with a full glass cannon build by I have a moderately even stat magicka survivability build you may like. I hit like a slightly harder wet noodle. Depends on the gear you're looking at, if you have any of the Undaunted sets (which I doubt since you said you were new), but if you don't I could recommend sets. What kind of magicka build are you looking for is the first question?

Its different for every skill in the game. You'll have to search the forums to find them -- I think someone made a table somewhere.

But really, it doesn't matter. The point is that skill damage scales COEF:1 with magicka and 10.46*COEF:1 with spell dmg.
