How to play ESO on console without Xbox Gold Live and PS Plus membership?

Because "online gaming" requires some game servers that Sony and Microsoft supplies.

Does ps/4 require a playstation plus sub? Because I spent more hours than I'd care to admit playing the various Black Ops games on my ps3 without a playstation plus sub. Didn't no sub fee used to be one of the selling points for playstation?

Why are people crying about this? ZOS has nothing to do with Xbox live or PS plus. If you want to play any game online with the consoles you have to pay for live or PS plus. This is how it is for all games not just eso. If you dont like it, dont play on those consoles. Or complain about it on Xbox.com or playstation.com. You get what you pay for. Ask your mom to pay 50$ for a year Xbox or playstation card or just be cheap and play on the PC. Xbox live and playstation plus are pretty reasonable. 50$ for a year isn't bad at all considering everything you get from it. Saying I dont need the stuff those services provide is just plain false. Xbox and Sony have servers that allow you to play and a whole host of different things you get for the money

They changed it with the ps4. You now have to sub but we are getting a well better catalog of free games to play. I still have about 20 games I haven't even played yet.

I dont even own a PS4. I said I didnt know why it was REQUIRED. You answered with they give you free games. That doesnt make it required to play online thats just a perk you get. So you still havent answered the question of why it is required. Unless your answer is what I think and thats Sony just likes making money. Not that I have a problem with them making money of course they should. Just saying its not required its more like mandatory.

Its required. If you want to know why ask Sony and Xbox. Its been a requirement of every game for those systems. Eso is NO different.

I'll give it a try. 1) Sony likes money. 2) in the last console generation Xbox was viewed by many to have a better system for multiplayer games all of which they built around their membership fees and requirements, to compete with that Sony followed suit. 3) Related to #2 they need money to maintain/build/justify to stockholders their online services. 4) Sony can waive the requirement for their online service for a game if they like, they probably do this to entice console exclusivity or to better compete against other console manufacturers.

In the end it's about making money, it's about paying for services they are providing such as chat and messaging, and it's about trying to keep ahead of the other guys even if that means tacking on a fee (because many gamers are happy to pay it).

I am Ok with PS3 and not moving ahead with PS4. It is a pity that I cannot play ESO on PS4, but I'll get used to it

Haha, yeah, you pay for "secure networks" that get hacked and DDoS'd by Lizard Squads and whatnot every other day, definitely worth the money, regardless how cheap xD But hey! When you do get to play - you can get a free cheap game every month nobody's ever heard about, because.. you know... videogames...

You'd be better off asking on the Sony forums than here, it is not and never will be ZOS' problem.

Even if there was still a subscription to play TESO. Still not ZOS' problem.

yep. that's right. They are basically monopolists on the market so they can do whatever they are pleased to do - just have ~10M of brainwashed guys and you are in for nice profit until the end of the days

If I wasn't getting free games every month I wouldn't pay it either. Don't act like people who pay it are idiots blindly getting screwed over because where not.
