Sorc Pet question

Greetings, all!

Just had a question about whether Sorc pets are boosted by any of your attributes. For instance, do they do more damage if you have more Magika or something?

Thanks.

Yes, the damage and health they have is based on your Magicka and I believe spell power. I'm not Sure if spell crit comes into the equation at all but if you want stronger pets then get more Magicka.

Thanks! Will factor this into my build.

Pets only scale off max magicka and spell crit, so spell damage doesn't increase their damage.

There are other ways to increase their damage for example, Deadric Prey (Daedric Curse morph) and Empowered Ward (Conjure Ward morph). Also the Necropotence 5-set is something worth getting if you run a pet build.

Personally I wouldnt advice a pet build though, in end game pve they tend to die a lot which decreases your dps because you have to recast them.

A bit off topic, but have any groups tried going all summoner Sorc? I'm just learning to Tank Trials, but I still find value in my clannfear. Seems like if there were more of them (7-8) you could just run the trial with 8+DPSers.

Of course, I'm just learning so feel free to give me some reality on such a theory :)

Yeah, this pet build of mine is just an experiment. So not even close to end-game PvE and I doubt I'd use it for that anyways. Was just curious if I was building a two-hander pet build if I needed to put any points in magika as well. Might just do all health and stamina, with some enchants to help out with max magika.

Won't be enough to make the pets really worth it FYI. Going mostly HP Stam works until about lvl 49 then Vet areas just destroy pet's usefulness if you try to hybrid it. Just mess around with what works for you and what you like to do. I liked hybrid with the softcaps, but now it's hard to find a balance outside of anything other than tanking.

Thanks for the tips. I just have an Orc Sorc with all of her skills reset from 1.6, so I figured instead of deleting her, I'd try something a bit different with her. If it doesn't work out, then to the delete bin she goes!

We tried trails in pts with a couple togglemancer sorcs but it was terrible. In AA the first two bosses do AOE damage which kills both pets almost instantly, with a cast time of 1.3 seconds its not viable to use them because your dps drops like crazy if you need to recast them a couple times. Sorc builds without pets usually pull 11-13k dps which is a lot higher than pet builds in trials. Also the pets on the last boss in AA tend to kill the tank due to the static electricity which happens if you're to close to each other. There is also a problem of the pet 'stealing' the heals of players when they're low on health, this makes it harder for the healer to keep everyone alive.

I havent tried trails with more than 3 sorcs because its you need multiple classes for the group buffs. Nova and Veil of blade are very useful and I wouldnt advise running trails without at least 2 Templars and 2 NBs. You also need DKs because they do the most damage out of all classes, the DKs we run with can pull 14-16k single target dps on trail bosses.

We use 1 tank, 1 healer and 10 dpser during normal AA and Hel Ra trail runs, usually 1 dps Templar off-heals if necessary.

Edit: I have no experience with tanking as sorc, I dont see any good tank skills in the sorc tree if I am honest. Mainly because most class skills scale off magicka cost a lot of magicka to cast, as a tank you'll likely have a lot health and stamina but no so much magicka.

the only ones who run a pet build that die alot are not very skilled players to begin with.

i run a pet build in craglorn. there is literally nothing i cant handle.

I meant the pets die easily in trails and other end game pve content, it might be good as solo build though.

Okay thank you for the insight. I personally would imagine the pets die kinda quick from actually getting hit by the mobs, but my clannfear takes AOE and magic hits like a champ. I am curious to know if they had empowered ward instead of harden ward though when this was attempted. Ironies of ironies, I found in my tanking adventures that when there was a boss we just couldn't beat in a vet pledge or something if I went full pet (clannfear, twilight, empower, and atronach + empower with a taunt on my bar) my dps as tank went up, I was tougher to kill and only had to re-summon occasionally. We'd usually only die due some odd mechanic or if I failed to pick up enough adds (like crypt of hearts vet mode).

I do want to point out that a sorc tank is a lot more like a dodge tank. The other players must work with you because unlike a Dragonknight or some other tanks you don't get a strong 30% dmg cap skill and have to rely on timing when to take damage and when to kite the boss. It's very difficult but very fun and rewarding. I'm still learning it but I and my guild mates all see potential. Thank you for the insight though!
