NB DW\bow magicka build?
Hey folks, I just reached VR1 with my first char and, as you may expect from a newb, my build is kind of a mess. Currently I have a breton with 27 magicka - 22 health - 0 stamina, and i'm using DW/bow. My initial idea was to play as a dw\bow DPS, but since I picked a breton, I though it was a good idea to invest in magicka.
My question is:
I do not intend to be a hardcore pvper or have the most OP build in the game, i just don't want to run defenseless by Cyrodill. So, if there is some way I can use my breton with dw\bow rather than of start all over again i'd be happy with this.

- Can I use my breton for a stamina build and still be competitive?
- Or is it better just pick up an Imperial and start all over again?

Abbon✭Tell u wat, go stamina build with 2h and bow skills. I tested nightblade magika build, it wasnt as good as stamina . nightblade is weakest class, so you will get owned alot until you reach vr14 with legendary gear.Edited by Abbon on 27 March 2015 19:570 -
I just notice that I wrote 2w instead of DW aswell. looks like i'm committing all the mistakes a newb does.

✭✭Even being a Breton, if you're rocking a stam build (2h/DW/bow) you should be putting required attribute points in health and the rest in stam.
Edit: I have a Breton stam Nb as well and it's safe to say you'll be behind. The racial passives won't do anything for you. Khajiit / imperial / Redguard would be better for this build.Edited by Jules on 27 March 2015 21:110 -
ScruffyWhiskers✭✭✭✭✭1.6 basically eliminated the hybrid builds. Now if you want to use the bow on your 2nd bar then you should go stamina, weapon power, weapon crit. Use ambush and surprise attack.
You can use DW for a magicka NB but you won't be using any DW skills.
Sadly I chose Khajiit because I wanted the weapon crit (which at the time worked with magicka NB) and the stealth. I've stayed magicka NB but Khajiit is not a plus for that. I do like the tail though.Edited by ScruffyWhiskers on 27 March 2015 22:530 -

That's what I was trying to do, but it feels like I'm not taking full advantage of the magicka I have. The most powerfull magicka DPS skill I found out of staff skill line is strife, and... I may be wrong, but it don't feel like i'm doing enough damage with it (compared with the DW skills). Also I coudn't find strife being used in any build or guide I saw untill now. It just doesn't look like there is skills enough to make a good rotation.
I think i'll try stam build with my breton for a while... try to ambush some low VR in Cyrodill when I get home and see how it goes...

Code2501✭✭✭✭For 1.6 I switched my wood elf NB from DW/bow magicka to stamina.
NB stamina by far exceeds magicka in burst damage now. It still suffers the general lack of survivability though as you'll be dependent on kills for heals as a stam build where magicka at least gets mediocre heals from siphon to support it. That said the difference between medium and light armor is noticeable in terms of damage received.
I've seen some reasonable magicka NB sustain tank builds in 1.6 using sword and shield and resto, though nothing that knocks socks off. A magicka based DW NB just feels too squishy now, with no compensatory increase in burst damage or shields/heals to make up for its weakness.
If you really want to stick with a magicka based DW your probably best pairing it with resto with it to give yourself more survivability via wards, heals and extra siphons.0 -

I disagree. Nightblades are not weak, they take some getting used to, just like every other class. I'm a VR14 in green gear, magicka build and I don't get "owned alot". You have to learn the class, and figure out how you can excel as a player.PC NA - @MercerESO0 -
Well I tried to work out a stamina build yesterday. It took some time and I end up with something that makes me feel like a fairy with a RPG. Now mobs in PvE are like paper and in PvP i'm the piece of paper myself. lol
Just then I notice that my magicka "build" was quite tanky. I think I'll have to train some dodge and block timing from now on...No more pants-demanding events for today.0
