Question about Mage's Fury morph.

The morph Mage's Wrath says "Explosion deals more damage." But, according to my tooltip, only the AoE explosion to enemies around the original target take the extra damage, not the actual target itself.
Is this accurate? Is this intended? I ask because someone told me they took this morph to get extra execute damage on the actual target.

✭✭Endless fury gives mana back when target is dead (fairly useless in boss fights. Who needs mana when the fight is over) and mages wrath does extra damage on surrounding ads (also fairly useless in boss fights which are generally ST.) Both added bonuses from the morphs are kinda dumb for PVE ST fights. Luckily the base dmg of the skill is really strong.
EDIT: To clarify: no, mages wrath doesn't do more damage to the actual target.Edited by Jules on 27 March 2015 19:240
