Not able to target Greater Storm Atronach

Hello,

I left the game a few months ago but recently rejoined and since I returned I have been having a weird issue with the Greater Storm Atronach ultimate ability. Previously when I pressed R I got a target circle on the ground which I could position and then click to launch the ultimate. But, since I returned (when 1.6 came out) when I press R the atronach is summoned immediately and I am not sure what controls the position.

Since the atronach does not move its position is critical.

Is this by design or is something amiss? I have searched around and have not been able to find anything that seems to address this. My normal AOE abilities allow me to target as before. It is just my ultimate.

It still "aims" in the same way, however it is also cast instantly. This and negate come to mind as ultimate's that were changed this way. You can still aim for where you want, you just need to hope that its going to cover what you want it to, but at least its instant. (Saying this as someone who doesn't like the instant cast on ultimate's).

Thanks. So, does it spawn at the point on the ground where the pointer is aimed at? Or does it spawn near a targeted enemy? Also, do you know when this change was introduced? I have combed through the patch notes and cannot find any mention of this change.

@ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, or @ZOS_TristanK can any of you help me understand how the ultimate targeting works for the Storm Atronach now? I have combed through the patch notes back to November and cannot seem to find anything discussing this. I have had my ultimate wasted several times due to this. Help would be appreciated.

I believe it was in the first round of 1.6 on pts, and the change is just the spell is instantly cast. The 3 general methods games use for aoe skills is 1.) Press button and see the aoe then press button again to confirm, 2.) Press button and have it instantly cast, often omitting the aoe but is useful for faster games, and 3.) Press button to see the aoe then release the button to cast. These methods are very different and changing how a few select skills function with no notice or way to pick is kind of, interesting. So yes, it still spawns where you are pointing, not on a required enemy target.

I have opened a support ticket for this to hopefully get an answer. My ticket is 150326-000817 in case @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_TristanK, or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom happen to read this thread.

The change I had to adapt to in 1.6 was that sorc ultimates, and the Templar Nova ultimate became PBAoE. Took me several messed up ultimate drops in heated combat before I figured it out. So now you really can't "target" them anymore like you used to. They essentially go off right around where your toon is standing. I really prefer the old targeting system for these.

That's not true. At least in my experience. Whenever I use the atronach, it appears where ever my crosshair is pointing on the ground. Sometimes it seems to appear at a targeted enemy's location, but I can't verify that.
