Searing strike morph

icanhazfacemelt
So a question about the morphing options for searing strike. You can morph it such so that it'll heal you when the effect ends. Great for a tank. But...

What if I keep reapplying the burn? Does it somehow keep track of each application? So it'll heal me 10 seconds after the first burn is applied, whether or not there is another application of the burn active on the target...?

On a related note: is there some way to check combat log? So I could just check this myself.

This is a great question id love to know the answer for. I went with the healing morph as well because I play mostly solo. But I've yet to notice any healing coming from it.

It only procs after the effect has worn out, it has a visual effect where red "strings" flow from the mob to you, similar to the Nightblade drain abilities.

I actually tested this in beta, and found it to be completely worthless. When I tested it the following was true:
    - Reapplying the ability (which with it's very low cost is one of the best spammable skills) restarts the "heal cooldown". i.e. Spamming = no heal
    - If the enemy dies during the "heal countdown", you get no heal.

One of the worst morphs I have used, tbh.

Yep, no heal if the mob dies before duration runs out... So pointless. Except when tanking boss critters.

Thanks for the input fellas. Have gone with burning embers.

Burning Embers also has an audio problem that may be linked to the healing component of the ability. I get an "error" sound when I kill the mob with the DoT on it. If anyone can verify, please do. Turn off music and effects so you can hear it better. I've bugged it in game, but want to see if others are having the same issue. I would respec and get rid of it, but don't want to waste the money. For now it's off my bar.

I get the sound ALL THE TIME, and it's driving me nuts. And yes, to be fair the effect should heal on use just like Siphon does.

Yep, as soon as you respec and change the morph, that sound stops lol

Yeah I could live with the reapplying issue, but it really should return the 33% damage done heal when the target dies early.
Something being unbalanced in 1v1 does not imply that it is balanced in group play.

I regretted taking burning embers ever since I found out the heal could so easily be lost, and was so little. ( around 170health for me iirc).

I'm not going to respec until the first significant update..just in case they give us a free respec token due to the changes. But I'd like to know what sort of numbers people are seeing with unstable flame. For those of you around vet how many dmg points do you see the tick go up by every 2 seconds while using unstable flame?

Searing strike is a nice instant skill for ending long attack animations, it's a shame that the morphs work counter to that. I'd rather have unstable flame increase the damage of each tick evenly (global rather than progressive increase) and have the heal occur per dot tick. So every time the dot ticks that portion of damage is returned as health.

(wish we could respec one class line at a time...it's hard to test things when respecs are so crippling)

PROC is a programmed random occurrence.

This is not random, as it happens every time the effect runs out, not 50%, etc.

Therefore, this ability does not PROC.

    The more you know.
