Any advice tailored to my single player hopefully fun experience?

claudius_Dark
I want to play a Bosmer/Templar/Bow user with maybe 2handed back up weapon..

For a new player (noob shudder!) any advice? I was thinking of using medium armor and putting 2 stamina 1 health each level.. and then for magic only use healing? or the ranged spell that snares? or the javelin stun skill.

what abilities should I use?

I am not interested in end game play or being the best build. Just for whatever reason like Bosmer/Bow/Templar...

Just enjoy the game and take your time. Try not to buy into the min max meta too much and you will be fine.

Like @jarydf said, just enjoy yourself. I'm a completionist, I chase the crafting training and the horse training every day, making sure I'm doing it as efficiently as possible... but really, you don't need to make a spreadsheet of your crafter training if you don't want to.

ESO is glorious in its pandering to us solo PvE players. We can do things at whatever pace we like, and I love that.

If you're a completionist like me, then perhaps, don't get too stuck on using just a single set of weapons and armor: if you do it that way, then once you've hit max level in that skill line, and move on to training the next, you're back to square one again. I'm currently left with training up 2-handed and light armor. It's not a great combo :( But for serious fights, I carry some medium armor, too.

If you're a new player, I'd say probably the biggest thing you can focus on improving to make your game fun, is carrying capacity: buy any bag or bank upgrade you can afford, feed your horse for carrying capacity first, and so forth. When you've got crazy amounts of inventory space, this MASSIVELY reduces the hassle of inventory management in the game, and means you can play with multiple crafting things at once.

Use some of your alternate characters just as "mules" to hold items you want to keep for longer but don't need to have filling up your bank.

If you find gold is a problem, then perhaps join a trading guild (or five!), and get the "data daedra" add-on to tell you how much you can sell your loot for; you get much more selling to players than you would in the NPC shops.

Legerdemain is currently a *fabulous* way to make shedloads of cash, too, but is easiest if you make a stealth-oriented character (medium armor, and the bosmer stealthy passive works well with it).

But following the questlines will get you enough cash and XP to be happy, as well as just being one whole cartload of fun!

Not much other than enjoy your way to 50, this is where the game shines. Everything else is at this moment subpar to most mmos (that you paid for) out there in regards to bugs and lags.

I can tell you, that the class/build choice you have decided, is possible one of the best combinations in terms of damage and thus viability in endgame - Im also sure you will find the 1-50 game EXTREMELY easy with setup. So if like a challenge from a mini-boss fight other than wrecking blow, wrecking blow, jesus beam maybe try some different? If you dont want to do ANY competitive activites and STILL like a challenge from 1-50 I would actually suggest to maybe take some other options in race/class/build.

There isn't a ton of reason to split stats like that, especially with bows which reduce a lot of the damage you take already (explained why below). Full stamina, with health enchants on armor.

Morph Arrow Spray into Bombard, with Poison Arrow morphed into Venom Arrow, and you can pretty much lock melee enemies into place the entire fight, while also interrupting casters' hard hitting attacks with the latter. You'll take a little bit of damage from ranged enemies but not enough to matter. If you're using 2hand, Rally is a must.

Magicka for utilities and self heals, whatever those may be.

I played about a year ago and usually had 2 be 2 levels above the quest to not die a lot. Bosses in dungeons where only I was allowed (alone) I sometimes had to be 5 levels ahead!

    So what is:

I just leveled a Nord Templar to 50 with bow/2H and had alot of fun but was rarely challenged to the extent that you experienced with lvls. At your level and 2-3+ you are fine. I was even taking world bosses solo if they could be knocked down.

Take your time, explore the game. You will probably change favorite skills many times.

However Wrecking Blow (2H morph of Uppercut) and Rally (2H morph of Momentum) are musts for 2H. Class skill Puncturing Spikes is great at melee range and Piercing Javelin is good for ranged attack with a knockback (makes Scattershot from bow unnecessary).

Is there some mechanics of the game that explain why it makes a difference to go full one thing (stamina stat) and gear for the other (health stat)? Or does it just make the game simpler to hunt for health armor rather than juggle the mods on armor between stamina and health?

Do you take provisions? Would you take stamina provision probably?

Weapon Ability Damage is based on two things. The first is the damage of the weapon itself, the second is your maximum stamina. As a bow or melee dps, you want to have as much stamina as you feasibly can in order to get as much damage as possible. You don't need a ton of health, only enough to actually survive. Gear enchants aren't as good as attribute points, but in the case of health they don't need to be as good because it's not the focus here. The majority of crafted armor sets in the game also give health buffs.

Probably the most common pairing of armor you are going to see before endgame is Hunding's Rage + Ashen Grip, because it's both effective and fairly easy to obtain.

There's exceptions to everything but this is what I've observed people doing, and what I've done myself.

If you did split stamina and health, it would be more like a 3-1 or 4-1 ratio. If you split it 2-1 you're losing out on too much damage, and you end up having way more health than you actually need.

Most people at end-game use tri-pots, i.e. potions that refill health, magicka, and stamina at the same time. For early game you don't really need to worry about it, just take whatever potions based on what you need at the moment.
