Can guards take gold one has in the bank?

When a guard(s) kills you, they take any gold on your corpse up until it pays off the bounty. Does the same apply to gold put in the bank?

I think it's considered protected at a bank.

I went to windhelm bank today b4 I got off

about 5-7 guards in it

As soon as I got spotted, they all charged and squashed me.

If the gold is safe at the bank, very good. I just did this for about 2 hours and constantly went back down to "zero" gold each time I died, very discouraging

Sweet. Now I don't have to build up 30K before starting my crime spree

Ill get back to thieving later on tonight. I have lost everything I have to this new system(man these guards are tough) and want to take a break and cool off.

Nope, looks like guards can take gold outta your bank to pay off your bounty if you don't have any on you. Thought I was being smart not to have any gold on my toon when I went out on crime spree so that way I could cut my losses if caught/killed by guards, only to discover after that 7500 g had been taken outta my bank =( Not cool

I don't believe that's correct - it might be within the bank itself maybe but definitely not for outside.

I had a 57k bounty by the time I finished the Mass Murderer achievement and I unluckily got myself pinched with 12k on me. Well that got taken when they looted my corpse, but I still had 140k in the bank untouched, and my bounty was still 47k (although slightly less with the Legerdemain passive that gives a discount on bounty)
