Skill point reset - crafting research timers

I have 3 slots open via skill points to research traits. Some are close to the end of their month's timer. When the points are reset, this time won't be lost will it?

No, you won't lose the time that you've already spent researching those items.

The timers continue to tick away, even if you do not restore the points.

They will, however, go back to their un-reduced timespans.

With 4/4 passives, you get a 25% reduction in time to research, so technically, if you waited until you had 75% of the initial research time completed and then sunk the points back in, your current research would immediately complete.

TBH this sucks, the research time should be recorded at the point the research was started, there are many reasons why someone will have their skills reset and not log in for days, especially if they're on level 4 or more researches that take many days.

@Kragorn, aside from a major patch, what might some of those reasons be?

You do realize that when you restore the passive points, the research time returns to its previously reduced value, right?

    It's called real-life.

Unless you're unemployed or are a student it's often easy not to be able to log in for a few days. Right now I'm away from home for the week on business so the earliest I'll get on is Sunday, but maybe not even then, and if not then it'll likely be next Tuesday or so.

Point is, people need to stop expecting everyone to be able tolog in 365 days a year, I get fed up with MMO developers inflicting 'dailies' on us that we lose if we miss a day; well, some MMO devs are more friendly, Square Enix implements some 'dailies' that you can accumulate up to 7 at a time before 'losing' them, but they're Japanese and tend to be more thoughtful when it comes to their playing customers it seems.
