Isinglass and Metheglin

Can anyone truly explain how these two substances are appropriate additives for all three of Alcohol, Tonic and Tea?
My understanding of Isinglass is that it is used not as a flavoring but instead is used to remove cloudiness from wine and beer. I am very unclear (look what I did there) as to how it is used in tea or tonic and I am trying to figure out how it is being used from an RP and immersion point of view in the new recipes.
Metheglin is a flavored mead. It is itself an alcoholic beverage. I have seen one tea recipe where Metheglin and Yerba Mate are used together. That makes sense to me, I have had my fair share of spiked coffees in my life. But how is it appropriate as a flavoring to other alcoholic beverages or tonics?
I havent had a chance to run through every single new recipe yet. My main has them all, my own person hasnt had the time yet. Hopefully tonight.
But since I really don't know all the in-and-outs of Isinglass or Metheglin I am hoping someone on the forums can explain a possible immersion explanation for them.

If you can RP magic, fantasy, monsters, constellations taking form, etc while maintaing immersion....I'm sure RPing a stretch in ingredients won't be too difficult.

Now, if mixing Isinglass with tomatoes, bread, and meat produced a "Daggerfall Subway Sammich"...I guess I'd have immersion problems too.

Both of these actually have pretty simple answers, fortunately.

Isinglass in the recipes appears to always imply some kind of clarifying, as one would expect, though the application appears more broadly used in ESO than simply for beer and wine. For example, it appears to also be used with things like rose to make "Winter Rose Tea". To me, that implies a rose tea that has lost much of its color. Very understandable in that context.

I think you misunderstand the language around Metheglin. It appears more to be in reference to the herbs and spices used in that mead rather than the mead itself. In any case, all the instances of that additive in recipes implies a lot of spice and/or the use of mead as an additive.

This is a world where ebony is a volcanic glass and people throw quicksilver into smelters without dying from the toxic fumes. Don't expect too much.

Wikipedia says that Isinglass was used instead of gelatin before gelatin production got as cheap as it is now.
So it may be used to make the given liquid more thick. (What ever that's good for.)

    As for "tonic"...
"Tonic" could mean "soft drink", in which case adding alcohol would make no sense at all.
But "tonic" could also mean "drink with tonic effects" (= making you strong). Best known drinks with tonic effects are "cod liver oil", "ginseng infusion", "tonic water" and "coca-cola" (original recipe). Adding spiced alcohol to your daily glass of cod liver oil is probably the best you could do.

someone out there was able to get a listing of every converted recipe. i was going to do so tonight but now i dont have to. i see isinglass used in a number or clarified concepts including enlightment tea, pink profundity and truth-glimpse where the clarity may be more than just "clear of particulates" and just as much a sympathetic magic concept (clear drink equals clarity of thought)

metheglin seems to be a sweetener much like honey but sometimes it may put a little kick in a tonic or tea.

i guess they aren't too bad - a ton better than corundum being a metal like in skyrim

LOL - You should see the anti-Taco threads and my counter argument threads to those.

I don't do much RP/Immersion stuff but I am obsessed with MMO cooking. I intend to get into ArchAge eventually just for the cooking and market manipulation related to cooking in that game.

    Yep, here was our list:

I understood the use of both items the same way as you did: clearing of particles and flavouring/sweetening a drink.
