Will we ever see non set armor be more then vender trash ?

At v14 any gear without a set bonus, really is just vender trash or decon trash.
Will this ever change. 75% of the gear you see in the game is of no use.
Will non set gear get some bonus to it? Something ?
Where in process of an update. I still don't see any change to this.
Also considering you can just buy the gear from other players ( that drops in trials ). Other then the boss ( head / shoulder ) sets recently introduced, there really isn't any physical reward for doing them, for most players. Accept for the achievement and the experience.

I've said a bunch of times now, when I get a drop I almost immediately make it junk, my sets have been thought out and planned. I've theory crafted what I need to do the job that I want to do. Blank weapons and armor are just a giant kick in the teeth especially as loot. If they want to entice and reward they need to start making all new weapons and sets and stop dropping blanks once people start running any group or endgame content.

The absolute best I can expect from a blank purple or blue is to get the temper from it if I am near a crafting station and sell/destroy the supplies that come back.

2-3 piece sets like the Undaunted armors would go a long way towards making an impact that could tempt me away from my already pre-planned gear set ups.

The actual Trial Boss gear is BoP and the reward you get from the weekly quest is as well.

On top of that, trials are quite fun.

Now, non-set items do come with useful traits and enchantments. I'm not sure how you would improve on that without making it set gear?

Can you elaborate on what you are thinking? Personally, I'm pretty happy to use them for vendoring and deconstructing. Pays the repair bills and keeps the alts happy...

if all there good for is vender trash and decon, just have mobs drop like 200g each, would make allot more sense.

How about remove the infused trait. Make it so that all non set gear gets a huge boost, like 2x or even 3x the enchantment power. That would work well. Say the set pieces give you 500 bonus hp from enchants, and a good set bonus. While the non set gives you 1500 bonus hp, but no bonus. Would force people to actually decide if they want the set bonus or the stats. Thats as in 5 armor pieces, a 5 set of gear gives u those stats. TOTAL. so 100 hp per as a set piece, or 300 per as non set.

I imagine there will be a lot more useful sets will drop when the VR levels are gone since the sets that exist at only VR10 or lower will be just max level 50, like the rest of them, opening a huge range of dropped sets that will be BoE, so quite sell-able too.

What they really need though is non set weapons that do their own special thing. A bow that adds 1 second to roots for example would be something unique that isn't part of a set but is awesome to anyone who gets that drop. so they loose one set bonus but get something unique for it.

Or or or...just make it so stuff that drops off bosses is jewellery for crafted sets so they can at least compete with the sets that have jewellery drops and it doesn't become outdated in 2 levels.

Most are used to gather mats to build better gear, others to rank up crafting skills. I vendor everything that is green now as I have all the materials needed to upgrade the gear I pick up to keep.

Everything else I decon for mats.

This is why I greatly prefer the itemization of Diablo 2 and Path Of Exile. It may not apply well to MMORPGs but I prefer a system where rare drops can be potentially much greater than an entire set.

A system like that wouldn't work in ESO because everything is so simplified and enchantments can be easily replaced. There's only a handful of enchantments and bonuses to add to gear but one category that hasn't been seen yet is a bonus to specific skills. Imagine finding a rare or very rare item that gives a + to Molten Weapons or Cleave or Grand Healing.

Itemization has always been one of ESO's weak points. I find it downright boring.

when it comes to mob drops im sure its better to get an item rather than a few 100 gold, which is rather boring over time.

I would love to see better itemization in this game. The Diablo 2/ Path of Exile route would be awesome, but hard to do in an MMO. I would be open to reworking the idea of sets in general. Make it so you can only equip a max of 7 or 8 set items. This could also help with the discussion pertaining to Trial sets. Simply make them the ONLY 7 piece sets with new 6 and 7 piece bonuses. Add cool unique weapons and jewelry and items to really encourage item diversity.

As it stands now, there are only a few out of the total number of sets (both crafted and dropped) that people generally use. Of course, this would be a huge balancing act to undertake given that every class can use every item/armor type so ZoS would need to ensure no ridiculous OP set/item/skill synergies exist.

Items that have their own special trick (essentially 1 set bonuses) would go a long way towards making me wonder If I should keep it. When I first started playing back at early release, I remember thinking that the Fighters Guild Sword I got would be so amazing, only to discover it was inferior to what I'd crafted in almost every way, because it had lower stats *and* an inferior enchantment.

As for having nothing to boost crafting or sales; we've got ornate gear to sell and white trash gear to decon, plus they've increased the rate of purple and gold tempers from refining and writs.

But,I like gear, so I just want more of it to be cooler.

yes, but honestly.... 75% of what you get is garbage, thats a bit much. Even big quests, like main story line quests in craglorn, give you GARBAGE.

ok. I am going to state a fact. You can get tempers and mats, FASTER.... WAY FASTER, just farming nodes in reapers march or craglorn. You will end up with more base mats like voidsteel than u can use, and a few gold tempers in an hour's time. Far more then you get from farming mobs. Drops get you maybe another 50 green tempers to add to your pile of 1000 in your bank ?

I honestly don't think you should EVER be walking out of something as challenging as vet DSA without any type of upgrade for yourself.
Its fun, you get an achievement, but an actual nice upgrade for your character would be great.

    How to gear up.
while leveling decon everything u get, cept a few pieces so your not naked.
---- now you have maxed your clothier, blacksmith, maybe others too.
At v14, go to craglorn or reapers march. Spend 30min to an hour farming nodes. Go and refine. Now sell all the tempers you have gotten.
Post in chat for a crafter. Pay them 2-3k a piece for purple items, bam purp set. Pay 9k total for ur rings and neck.
39k is not hard to get by v14 unless you waste allot. This is done by trying to quest too much. This is because your repair bills will always be larger than what you get from doing a quest. Even without any deaths. Just do dungeons and grind off and on between questing, swap back and forth.
Now just have your hirelings giving you tempers to sell, sell other stuff u get from time to time, you will be in all golds quite fast.

Getting good gear, cool gear, should req actual work... not just having the most cash. I want to see that amazing chest piece I need, coming from something hard, like dsa vet mode, a challenge. Not from paying 3k to a crafter........

Too much junk, not enough good stuff. The itemization in eso has always been poor.

Sure, in the 1-50 zone, I absolutely agree. I might even be willing to agree in parts of the Veteran zones, but in 4 man dungeons, Arena, or Trials? Balderdash.

yep. It is. However the itemization still sucks overall. I am happy ZOS is changing and improving thing. However it does not mean I will stop pointing out where things are still lacking. And with justice and champion ( even with there issues ), the upcoming new content, and spell crafting confirmed upon tamriel unlimited transition, the biggest issue yet to be talked about is the itemization problems. Everything else had been looked at.

I had a dumb idea a while ago for a "neutral set" skill line.

Basically you would have a skill line that is a list of passives you could invest in, a bit like a Champion tree. You could then spend points to choose the sort of bonuses you'd get from multiple non-Set armor, as if they were a set themselves.

The bonuses would be weaker than Set bonuses by tier, but would have the strength of being customizable. Suddenly even non-Set gear has a use because you can get specific bonuses out of it, but Set gear is still valuable because of the higher strength, representing the investment of time and/or materials.

Because once you hit a certain point... non-Set gear really does become all but useless, and that's unfortunate.

oooo. That could be where bonuses come from to make it decent. Even along the lines of stat % bonuses. Or even make heavy med light armor bonuses from the passives be stronger on non set pieces. like for non set pieces you get 3x the bonus from the armor type skill trees.

    I like what your thinking

you can get more purple and gold tempers and money from selling them, in an hour of farming mats in reapers march or craglorn, than 3 hours of farming mobs for drops.....

    LOOK AT THE FUTURE!
cliche yes. However with the item shop, and more and more being added for tamriel unlimited. Good gear needs to be rewards from HARD CONTENT. Otherwise the second there are buffs to gold drops, or higher loot from chests and refining, within the cash shop, as pots, ect. Or the option to GIFT. People will just spend real money to get ingame cash, to buy there gear. Either by buying the buffs, or buying stuff for others and gifting in return for ingame currency. One way to stop people from doing this, or using gold farmers and purchasing money, is by making it so that you, HAVE to PERSONALLY do the hard content to get the gear you want. SO THAT you cant just BUY IT. You have to work for it.
If love to see gear better than anything you can craft, drop in vet dsa. Or awarded in pvp for huge comebacks. Taking an entire cyrodil server over, after its already fully owned by another faction.

Gear needs to come from hard work. Not simply given to whomever is best at buying the tempers cheap from one trade guild and selling them in another.

Not just at V14. Pretty much everything you get from Level 50 onwards. Especially when going through Cadwell's Silver or Gold, because you just get higher level versions of the same drops that you'd have got when doing the quest at its original level. Thus you can pick up Veteran gear with Exploration and Training. Great.

I give everything white or green away to Guildmates for use in decon. I'd probably have a lot more money if I sold it, but that seems like a waste.

I dunno. I'd like to see better items dropped for Veteran content. But honestly, I'd be happy with all existing sets made "complete" (i.e. 7 pieces of armour and jewellery). I hate having the choice of muddling along with V5 Magicka Furnace stuff or paying 20 x more gold than I currently own for a couple of V12 Signets of the Warlock.
