Crafting Alts

I am not happy crafting on my main. When I logon, I find myself distracted from leveling and instead crafting. I was considering the following scenario:

- Making a character who's sole job is to be a crafter. I'm thinking one would be cloth/smith/wood, and another would be provisioning, alchemy, enchanting. At first I considered using one toon for ALL crafting, and honestly that would be my most ideal situation. However, that's 125 skill points for all of them.I figure if I split them up, that will give me a little flexibility if I decide I need to level them by investing the minimal amount of skills to get by.

My concern is that I've read that there are difficult to reach crafting stations. So does that mean it's mandatory that I reach max level?

I'm considering playing a toon until I get the necessary skill points and then reallocating them to crafting. On my leveling toons, I was considering investing one point in keen eye.

Is this completely unrealistic? Do you foresee a problem I haven't considered? I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and look forward to your advice.

There are crafting stations in all of the zones: including Coldharbour. If you can get a friendly guildmate to travel to the closest wayshrine (or group with someone) you can use "travel to" in order to discover the wayshrine, and then you can fairly easily get to the crafting station. I don't recall any of the crafting stations being impossible to get to from the nearest wayshrine without a fight, so you should be OK for that.

Having said that, I believe the only way to get access to the 8-trait stations from the fighters guild and mages guild is by completing those questlines, which is going to be very difficult if you don't level your crafters.

I'm also not sure if the "travel to" option works for a non-VR character to get to Craglorn and the crafting stations there.

Craglorn and Coldharbour, as well as high zones in your alliance have workshops for you to use. And deconstructing is based off some formula of the char level as well as craft skill level. So yes, better to level up your crafting char to at least 50/VR1. To gain back some skill points, you'd have to do your silver and gold though.
