Hard CC discussion

So after having my goes around the PTS, i think we all need to have a duscussion about about Hard CC.

As it stands now:

1. The Stun/Disoreint from Bolt Escape is unblockable.
2. The Nightblade Fear hard CC is unblockable.

I'm sure their are some i am m missing, but those are the two that come to the top of my head.

I know a made a long post a few months ago about how Sorcs were too weak, the Bolt Escape nerf was too much, but not this.....unblockable stun/disoreint....this is not what i wanted at all...this is just cheese plain and simple.

Its the same with the Nightblade...unblockable Hard CC is just lame, its poor game balance mechanics all around.

All this will do is force everyone to run Immovable all the time, and that will be that. You will see everyone in Cyrodiil running around with a big Immovable bubble around them, even those who are not wearing Heavy Armor. Is this relaly what you want ZOS?

The Solution?

1. Bolt Escape - Mana Regen Penalty removed, 50% cost increase reduced to 25%, Stun/Disoreint is blockable. this = skill perfectly balanced.

2. Nightblade Fear - Reduce cost 15%, increase duration by 2 seconds, Fear is blockable. this = skill balanced perfectly.

3. Immovable - requies 5 pieces of Heavy Armor miniumum to be able to cast it.

4. Block - Slightly increase the cost of blocking to compensate for the Nightblade fear, as we shouldn't have perma block folks either, their has to be a little give and take here.

I am open to other suggestions here, thats what this thread is for. As a Bolt Escape using Sorc i never wanted an unblockable hard CC for petes sake, thats more OP then the skill was at launch. Its a giant step backwards.

I am not biased in saying BE right now is worse OP then it was at launch...all it needed was the mana regen penalty taken away, and cost increase reduced to 25% instead of 50%, instead they went way overboard giving it an Unblockable Hard CC. Its the same with Fear, their should be no Unblockable Hard CC in this game if you want any semblance of balance whatsoever.

If this goes live, then i guess I will just have to sheild stack + Immovable. It will be no problem for me to keep 100% uptime on Stacked Sheilds + Immovable...is that really want folks want? Do we really want it to devolve and come down to this?

Please share your thoughts, give suggestions, whatever the case may be, something needs to be done, perhaps this thread and its compilation of ideas will get things moved in the right direction for the devs. We all want a fun game in the end right?

I know one thing, I don't want to win because i have a skill that has an unblockable Hard CC (Fear/Bolt Escape) that i can spam till the cows come home...i get no pleasure out of that whatsoever.

Sorcerer's - The ONLY class in the game that is punished for using its class defining skill (Bolt Escape)

"Here in his shrine, that they have forgotten. Here do we toil, that we might remember. By night we reclaim, what by day was stolen. Far from ourselves, he grows ever near to us. Our eyes once were blinded, now through him do we see. Our hands once were idle, now through them does he speak. And when the world shall listen, and when the world shall see, and when the world remembers, that world will cease to be. - Miraak

Is it just those abilities or are all the Fear and disorients unblockable? Cause if they are I can certainly see why as Disorient would make an excellent counter to those who keep block, or block casting.

Can anyone test this properly like with Rune cage for sorcerers, scatter shot for bow and such?

Otherwise I am assuming its just a bug.

I think they said that they intended for the NB fear ability to be unblockable. I agree with OP's comment that Bolt Escape's unblockable CC is strange & poor class balancing. A group of a few well-coordinated sorcs can easily wipe large groups, and get a magicka-based CC break to boot.
"Things which are alike in nature grow to look alike, and the speaking stones have lain a long time lookin' at the sun. Some believe they descend with the lightning, but I believe they are on the ground and are projected downward by the bolt."

    Think about a move/counter move.

Enemy does move, you do counter. Result: its a wash (no "lost" actions, since they took an action you took counter action).

I don't know why people are so worried about CC when Break Free exists. Really, the meta should be reducing Break Free cost. Then you can walk around all day with no CC protection, and just Break Free and gain immunity for 6 seconds (6 actions). If enemy CCs (an action), then you Break Free again (reaction, its a wash).

Focus on Stamina reduction, Stamina regen, and Break Free reduction. Then load your bars with 12 cool things that have nothing to do with worrying about CC.

they needed to redo the nerf to BE for a long time now...... it is one of the few, very few, good class skills sorcs have and we get penalized for using it either offensively OR defensively.

Meanwhile people can flap flap dragon blood 24/7, spear kill people, or do whatever it is nightblades do (lol at the NB part :P sorry friends).

Yet sorcs cant use that one good ability without being scared to use it again?

DK petrify and also templar's shards are unblockable. Petrify is the worst to fight out of the two because it's possible for the caster to break it's effect before the affected can break it. This means it grants no cc immunity. Some players are really awesome at permanently CC'ing others.

Best thing is as mentioned to slot immoveable. Even the "Good PvP players" are exploiting the petrify rotation.

Not sure why fear should be labeled as blockable, devs stated many times its intended to work that way and that they are monitoring its use. It's a niche skill and if it was blockable it would be absolutely useless.
