Number of CP you need

Hey,
first of all a question: Has someone tested how many CPs you need to get your old pre 1.6 ressource management?

But now the main thing.
As you can read many times you need many CPs. 100 per star and there are a few stars in one champion tree.
For the biggest passive you need to have spent 120 points. Sounds much? Yea! But if you start with 70 CP it could be more than 50% to the first big passive.

But the problem is:
You cannot spend your points in what you want to spend! On the PTS I have 24/23/23 points available for the three different themes. What the *** is this???

Does really just every third CP will be available for my wanted champion tree?

Yup... they have said this all along. It was stated as such at the guild summit, at quake con, during the eso live twitch streams, and even in the news bulletin they posted on elderscrollsonline.com a week ago detailing the champion system.

You haven't even grasped the worst part though... Each champion point is supposed to take 1 hour with enlightenment to earn. Enlightenment is 4 times the EXP gain as you would normally get, So let's put it at 3.5 hours per champion point considering you will get some enlightenment when you sleep. In order to get to 120 points in even one of the constellations, you will need to have a minimum of 358 champion points. Subtract the 70 that you already have and you will need to earn a minimum of 288 champion points. To earn 288 Champion points at an average of 1 per 3.5 hours, you will need to play for 1008 hours. Mind you, this is 1008 hours of doing nothing but gaining exp toward champion points. No banking, crafting, or any such nonsense.
1008 hours at 4 hours a day is 252 days. Without skipping a day, that is 36 weeks or about 9 months.

So, to recap all of that. If you play for 4 hours a day Every Day and do nothing but grind experience, it will take 9 months for you to get even 1 120 point bonus.

Lol, No. I'm just telling you how it is. It's the same length as a pregnancy! I might just go knock up the wifey and use her as a timer for where my CP progression should be. By the time junior comes out, I should have at least 1 120 point bonus.

And I created a topic about that and people are clicking LoLs cause they cannot understand how bad is the situation on PTS. They think that I only whine. I am pretty sure that we will find a way to grind the points faster but we have to do it as soon as possible before ZoS fix it.

@Sharee‌ Sure, but the first, too. 358 if you want the red passive, 359 for green and 360 for blue ( maybe I changed green and blue)! But yes..with 360 you could have three of those passives.

I would accept this if they didn't nerf the resources and their management. But they nerfed them and in order to be as powerful as you are in 1.5 you need these CPs. I need them but I cannot have them soon...

I calculated around 350 for my Sorc I've already got my upgrade path selected.

I may never get there though it makes me want to cry. 400k XP per CP means 2.5 CP per current VR level. So if my bad math is right that means that the current VR1-VR14 grind will give me 35 more CP on top of my 70. I can stomach another VR1-14 grind.

But wait...there's more. So hypothetically I'd be at 105 CP. 245 to get to my target. Like 8 more VR1-VR14 grinds after that.

    Is my math right?

They basically blew up the character progression grind to a much higher level than it was before. You thought v1-v14 was difficult? The CP grind, especially coupled with the kill xp nerf is going to be brutal.

The Champion System is their long term progression system though if VR ranks are really going to flattened. Surely the idea being pushed is that you don't do 10+ hour days to "grind" them and just do more "fun" activities within the game and get rewarded for it (solo questing, group quests, dungeon clearance, trials, pvp etc or just killing some monsters every day). If the CP system doesn't create content blocks then really I don't have a problem with not being having 358 CP in a week.

If the game is too tough without the Champion benefits then that is a problem but there are obviously some balance issues on the Test server atm that they will be working through.

Experimenting while enlightened the only thing that will get you a CP in anything near an hour seems to be questing - monster killing, delves, PvP aren't giving a fraction of then return.

Basically if you have done your quests and don't want to do them again and again and again and again on new alts you won't be hitting the CP cap.

It also seems like resources have been scaled way down so that what you used to have at VR14 is what you will have now if you ever get to 3,600CP.

And the last nail in the boredom coffin - after the first CP in any star the rate of return plummets at an absurd rate to the point where after double figures - WTF is the point for some really pretty average passives that partially replace skills they have removed from class trees.

I knew this was going to be buggy but I had believed it would at least be interesting...

    For me the bad is:

    - That there is no content that I can do to get these points in the normal run of play (something ZOS promised they would address) so I have to grind or just not have them.
    - The passives seem lacklustre compared to the time it will take to acquire them, some are simply ones they have stolen from class skills (like my NB potion boost)
    - The increase to the stars after hitting double figures becomes negligible even faster than the pessimists among us predicted pre-PTS so there is little to motivate you. 10 hours of play to get 0.01% increase in damage is not much of a motivator to keep people playing.

This system was supposed to be exciting and encourage people to play for the hours to master it all even if that took 1,000's of hours - to do that it needs to give the player a feeling of progress rather than a feeling of working on a minimum wage production line.

TL;DR - Games are supposed to be fun, this system is not fun. That is bad

Just for some perspective a single CP in the green tree netted me 26 stamina - or about 1.64% of a Rapid Strikes... 1.07% of an Ambush.

With the extra 10 stamina regeneration per 2 seconds I also got for that point I will be able to cast an extra ability every 5-10 minutes or so of combat depending on exact cost.

This does not seem like something exciting for several hours of play - and yet you know that to stay in competition with those who will grind out these points you need to get them because while 1 means next to nothing 100 or 1,000 will mean something in PvP or when running trials.

So rather than extending the game with a new system that offers interesting progressions they appear to have removed what you had and placed you on a treadmill to get it back.

What would you be doing if you had a maxed out V14 with all the skills you want and the CP system wasn't in place? How would you spend your game time? What do you do for fun?

That's what you should be doing.
