Templar, can my healer be a tank?

Little background here.. I did a lot of solo questing with my Templar (still do), but for group content I am a straight up healer. I do not do any crafts on my main, so I seem to have an abundance of skill points. I have just started veteran dungeons and that's all this build needs to be for, I would probably commit to healer or tank by the time I do trials/DSA. I started a DK tank in another faction and am having fun, with tanks being hardest to find for groups I'd love to give it a try with my main (high elf Templar)

I have every passive that can be even remotely useful. I currently run with 5 light with 2 heavy, 5pc Seducer and 3pc Willows. My attributes are something like 2:3:1 (very little stamina). I have read many threads here and elsewhere and have seen stamina and magicka based tempar tanks. I believe that magicka based would be best for me as my attributes are already geared that way. Now for my questions...

Should I be switching to 5 heavy 2 light? My gut tells me yes.
Enchants/Gear? I was thinking of 5pc Orgnums or Spectres Eye and 4pc Nights Silence (to help me with my lacking stamina) Major enchants: stam, magicka, healthx2 minor:stamx2, magicka x 3.

Not sure on jewelry yet. If I found an inexpensive jewelry set that would be awesome (VR6, want to try tanking when I hit VR7 shortly)

As for my skills this is kind of my plan..

Ransack as my go to taunt.
Absorb Magic (debating defensive stance) (also considering using total dark since I'm looking to be magicka based)
Channeled Focus
Blazing Shield
Radiant Aura

My second bar would probably be..
Breath of life
Inner fire
Radiant Aura
And I don't know. [insert some damage dealing skills]

Any comments or suggestions would be fantastic! I realize its probably not that great and I need to spend time testing it and tweaking before I will truly know, but I'm mostly wondering what gear to craft myself if this is what I'm going for. (Or if I need to do a total revamp before I go ahead and change what gear I need to use haha)

Blazing spear will be a good fit for that last move, and don't use total dark
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

Absorb Magic should be on both bars for the passive block bonuses. 5-light 2-heavy for a magicka-based tank works well for Templars with Blazing Shield.

Most dungeons except CoH/CoA can be run with a 3DD/1Healtank setup and 7/7 light. As long as your groupmembers pull decent dps and know how to avoid stuff. Do not try that with a random group, you will fail horribly.
    Here for example Spindleclutch:

Circle of Protection and Blazing shield are the most important for you defensive stats.

If you want to go full heavy tank here is a good build called Dinodefense > tamrielfoundry.com/topic/the-dinodefense/

And if you want to check out other builds here is a pretty good uptodate summary > tamrielfoundry.com/topic/pve-dps-build-compilation-by-class-and-weapon-type-1-5/

I think I would definitely feel better wearing at least 5 heavy. I did look over the Dino defense build but the gear there is not really obtainable for me right now. Any suggestions on gear?

Well, for the moment one full set would be kinda enough for you i guess. You shouldnt worry too much about gear right now :) It will get important after v12-v14

    Try these crafted sets:
    elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Whitestrake%27s+Retribution+Set

    elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Hist+Bark+Set

Or if you can buy it from guildstore might be fun also, non-craftable though:
    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Nikulas'+Heavy+Armor+Set

Also from guildstore available and probably very cheap to buy or you also get it from PvP rewards.(Sword/Shield/Necklace)

I posted this response in a different thread, but it seems relevant here:

    Templar Tank Questions

"This comes in a little late (had to get a forum account first), but I truly love the Templar, so I wanted to add what I've experienced. My favorite character is a tank/healer, VR14, and I find it to be extremely versatile.

    Bar 1 - Tank
    - Pierce Armor
    - Structured Entropy (This boosts my health just by slotting it and gives me a trickle heal. It's also really cheap. 72 magicka for me.)
    - Blazing Shield
    - Absorb Magic or Breath of Life (Absorb is a good stamina heal, but in tough situations I need all my stamina for blocking. BoL allows me to heal while tanking.)
    - Radiant Aura (Health and stamina regen is increased by 80%!)
    - Ultimate: Empowering Sweep (Does meh damage, but huge damage mitigation in large mobs.)

Bar 2 - Healer (This bar changes A LOT, but I'll put down what's there now.)
    - Blazing Spear (nice AoE damage and stun)
    - Siphon Spirit
    - Blazing Shield (If I'm in trouble, I pop this up and keep healing  )
    - Illustrious Healing
    - Breath of Life
    - Ultimate: Nova, obviously

I run 5/2 heavy/light, with 5 piece Seducer and 4 piece Death's Wind. I have 4 items of Death's Wind on when I'm on my tank (shield gives an extra piece of armor) and use it mainly to get my health levels up. Seducer gives magicka regen, plus I wear a necklace with a regen enchantment, all of which gets me pretty close to the soft cap. With food running, I'm easily overcharged.

With over 3.3k of health, Blazing Shield can take a lot of hits before it pops, and generally my magicka regen is high enough so by the time it does pop, I've regenerated almost all of what it cost to cast. Plus, the ulti Empowering Sweep costs so little that a single pop of the shield in a Craglorn-size mob generally gets me back the entire cost. Best case, I can cast it as often as I cast Shield.

I haven't done as much end game stuff as others here, I'll admit, but I will say when we ran the Spindleclutch pledge a few days ago, our DK tank died during the boss fight and I took over as tank and we beat it  .

This build works for me, but obviously there might be better options."

Thanks for the input! I'll most likely be VR7 by the weekend so I'll start playing around :) I never had considered the use of Structured Entropy but now I will play around with it once I
