Is bleeding effective in a 1v1 pvp situation?

I'm looking to incorporate bleeding into my melee stamina build, will it be worth while?

The thing is, most bleeds (DoTs in general) can't be applied while the enemy is blocking. I wouldn't say this makes them, or DoTs in general, ineffective, but more makes them difficult to use.

If you get around to applying them when the enemies guard is down and can find a way to do that frequently enough so that it does some substantial damage, and of course picking the right bleeds, then right on.

One of the great advantages of most DoTs, and subsequently bleeds, is that once applied blocking wont do *** against them, so again if you can make advantageous openings for yourself and use strong enough bleeds, sure it might work.

I have a fairly DoT centered build, so I can personally attest to it being a decent strategy. Still have to have SOME burst ability though :P

Thanks for the comments. Yeah I will incorporate bleeding whenever I can but burst damage is my main focus.

I TRIED a DoT build months back, did not work.

DoTs seem to be.... difficult... to use in PvP. I think its due to the fact many of them can be blocked

    Or reflected.

    For some unknown reason.

Same goes for crit builds. You can't crit against blocks and damage shields. And since almost everyone has one or 2 of these things up all the time, you do nothing to them.

Dots can be effective, in conjunction with burst, necros, etc used to be some of the toughest classes to fight, if you can stack dots with heal debuff, and burst or stun/fears should work well .

I believe it could be very worth while in the right situations. Bleeds can be blocked yes, but they apply as another form of physical damage upon block. This means using a lot of bleeds will make you the most effective stamina drainer for the block-heads.

Think of DoT's, at least the first one, as counter-regen.

Effectively stop their regen, then you only have their resource pool left to deal with (not factoring skill heals/potions, of course). Otherwise, you're fighting them both.

That being said, if you can have multiple DoT's at the same time, with varying effects, they can add up after a while.

Anything that chips away is that much less damage (with zero effort, at that point) you have to do with some other method.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...
