Question on Crafting Armour Sets

Hi Guys n Gals.

Ok, I think this is a fairly simple question. I've seen various sites giving the stats and such on what you need to craft a certain Armour Set.

Let's assume I want to craft "Armour of the Seducer".
I'll use the Fishermans ISland Clothing bench in Stormhaven
Apparently I need 3 traits learned.

1. Is this 3 traits learned in total, or 3 traits learn per item?
2. Which 3 traits should I learn, or does it not matter?
3. Does it automatically convert the item to "Armour of Seducer" in terms of name?
4. Is there anything else I need to do to make this happen?
5. Does it matter what material I use, or can i use any Light Armour material?

Cheers for your responses in advance :)

    1. 3 traits per item you want to craft in that set
    2. Doesn't matter
    3. It does yes
    4. No just pick the right option at the crafting station
    5. Any material providing you have enough for that piece

    I think that's right...

The above is correct. All depending on your current knowledge of the system, this addition could be helpful:
    2) it doesn't matter which three traits you learn, but you'll be restricted in crafting those particular traits that you do know (makes sense, but may not be immediately obvious)
    4) you'll need knowledge and materials for the racial style and armor/weapon trait
    5) the material you use will need to be of a particular level; "jute" for instance is a clothing material used to make light armor for levels 1-10.
5.5) you'll need to be sufficiently leveled in the respective craft (found under crafting skills) to make progressively higher-level crafts

    ^^ Everything he just said.

If you plan on doing all the crafting yourself then start researching traits now! Researching traits takes forever!! If there is a specific trait you want unlocked look at guild vendors for pieces you need with the trait desired.

I love crafting my own armor and can be rewarding but there are some really good sets that require 6-8 traits to make and I simply do not want to wait for the research times so I had my armor made for me. Having someone make a set with the traits you want isn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Where the cost gets high is if someone is improving the armor for you which will get pricey. I can improve my own armor which saved me lots of money.

    Good luck hope this helps

Should point out that the benefits derived from the "Seducer" set depend on how many of the pieces are equipped. You may be aware already, but just in case you overlooked it. It's very common to have mixed sets of armor to get advantageous benefits, say 5 pieces of armor from one set, 3 from a different set. Though it does not matter which traits are learned in our to be able to meet creation requirements, it's a good idea to focus on learning the most beneficial traits, and add those to the armor you create. For armor, best traits are, in random order, Divines, Infused, and Impenetrable (PVP). Best for weapons is Precise, Infused, Sharpened. Improving quality will increase armor and damage, and also increase the items trait. Eventually you'll find an item with the trait you want to learn, but if you want to get the trait NOW, either ask in chat if someone can make it for you, or check the guild stores. Usual cost is 100-300g except for nirnhoned.

In 4., pay particular attention when you are crafting Blacksmithing or Woodworking. There will be four tabs at the top, two with a triangle and two without. The ones with the triangle will make the set item, the ones without will make a normal item.

I can't tell you how often, when I went to make a shield, for example, I clicked on the last icon (normal armor) instead of the second one (set armor).

    2. If you want to craft the traits that are most useful, I suggest infused, divines and reinforced. For leveling alts, training and exploration. Reinforced is best on chests, since they have most base armor. Only head, chest, 2H weapons, pants and shields, gets 100 % benefit from enchantments, so those could be infused. Rest only gets 40% or something.

The rest have been answered pretty good I see.

It has already been mentioned but you want to start researching traits now. Good thing is, there are some nice sets that only need 2 or 3 Traits known to craft the sets. You can do all the 3 trait research in 2 or 3 weeks for an entire armor set. There are crafting passives which reduce the time needed to research, and let you research more than one item, unlock those when you can.

I used to rely on loot to get the items I wanted for research, but you can also search the guild kiosks for "Traited Items" to find the specific ones you need. You can search for them by trait and armor type in the guild stores and kiosks. Prices run 200 to 500 gold for "researchable items". I put that in quotes as people will make low level iron or jute items with a trait just so others can research it. Sometimes you can find them for less even. You can also trade these with a Guild Mate.

I would concentrate on Impenetrable, Infused and Divines for your first armor traits. Reinforced and Training are also good for Armor. Precise, Charged and Training for your weapon traits. Those are the ones that have the most benefit particularly at higher levels. Once you know the first 2 or 3 for everything, then you can fill in the spots with other traits that you learn.
