Can't unknock an arrow anymore...

This is an immersion-breaking problem so bad that I can no longer enjoy playing my level 44 Nightblade. You used to be able to unknock an arrow in several ways, but now there is no way at all to do so if you've drawn but don't want to fire because you want to avoid being seen or just don't want to feel silly by having to shoot it into the wall or the ground, etc..

This should be a very simple fix, but myself and others have been mentioning it for months without satisfaction. Please allow players some way to unknock arrows again so I can return to enjoying my Nightblade.

I've never used a bow but that seems like it would completely ruin immersion.

for me, being unable to stop an arrow from shooting is causing me death. i accidently shoot an arrow and bring too much trouble upon my head and accidently too many mobbs or pvp fighters and im dead.
i need a way to "cancel" an arrow attack or any attack before it is fully executed.

With pvp you can just turn away from the target and shoot it into thin air. With pve it seems like it still shoots at whatever you last aimed at.

I did this a couple of times while in a group, needless to say, it didn't go over well.

Sprinting always allowed me to do that (pressing shift and just tapping the 'w' key). Doesnt that work anymore?

While I have never gotten on the "immersion" train, seems silly to me, having to shoot an arrow into the dirt at your feet annoyed me greatly when I briefly tried using a bow. That's not why I stopped using it, but it did seem a bit dumb, for lack of a better word.

I belive that main problem was that the shooting into the enemy make you break sneak.
Sprinting will take you out of Sneak aswell, so its not the best way to cancel shot.

ESC or ALT key ..with left mouse down... use to cancel it I thought ?
Cant say I have put myself in that situation for a long time....so not 100% sure.

I have the same problem when I am using the snipe skill

In vet dungeons. After we have died or something, and everyone are standing there and talk and rage about what the others did wrong. I "accidently" press the snipe skill and pull the boss.. haha :-D.
But maybe if you roll dodge? I will try that tomorrow.

If you use addons, get CancelCast from ESOUI.

Then map a key to it and press that key to un-knock your arrow. You'll still hear the sound effect as if you had fired the arrow, but the animation will change and you won't actually fire. I won't play without it.
