Right now, even restoration and destruction staffs are considered weapons for skill damage (or healing) calculations, but this is subject to change in 1.6 very soon.

What are they planning on doing now?
So its good news, at least for us DKs but seriously what are the plans for the destro and restro staves?Surfinginhawaii wrote: »guybrushtb16_ESO wrote: »Right now, even restoration and destruction staffs are considered weapons for skill damage (or healing) calculations, but this is subject to change in 1.6 very soon.

Making DKs even more OP.
Apparently, they have a change in mind that will make certain majica builds even more powerful, while gimping viable hybrid builds. Essentially, the idea is to change all abilities that use majica to scale off of spell power and use spell crit.
How this breaks down, is that DKs that use the 1.5k dps rotation will not have to balance stats, and instead they can go all sp. This may also phase out molten armaments. While having something like supprise attack on a melee bar will no longer be viable, as you will likely not have the spell crit to make it do decent damage.

It sounds like you are jealous for some reason. If you have played any other MMOs for any length of time, you will recognize that the FoTM class is always changing. Don't worry. Your favorite class will be on top some day.
- It makes sense that attacks using magicka are based off magicka pools, spell damage, and spell crit
- It makes sense that attacks using stamina are based off stamina pools, weapon damage, and weapon crit
I was frankly surprised and dismayed to find this was not so in ESO. How could such a simple mechanic be made so convoluted into the system we have now and why?
I am looking forward to 1.6 where skills can be more easily understood and builds can be streamlined.
