Staffs & Weakness to Elements

Ok i just startet to play a little around with destro staffs. And just got the Weakness to Elements staff skill.
It lowers the targets resist by 40% its alot. But when i test it out. I give no more damage on mobs with my fire staff. or with Destructive Clench?
Anyone that can tell me how all this works..?

guybrushtb16_ESO✭✭✭✭Did you try this on mobs? Some of those may have no resistence to begin with, so while it technically works, you wouldn't get any benefit.0 -

Hmm its a little stupid then as you have no way to know if a target has resist or not?
But if so it might be that as im still low level and it was normal small mobs.
Another thing. Staff damage. is that based on spell damage or weapon damage?
And do the passive staff that penetrate resist work on normal staff attacks?

ThatHappyCat✭✭✭✭✭All staff attacks and skills are based on weapon damage (although this may change with the next patch). Penetrating Magic, AFAIK, does work with normal staff attacks. Mobs in general don't have significant resistance, making Weakness of Elements relatively useless for boosting your DPS; it's the bonus effects from its morphs that you want.0 -

Ok thx alot. Seem wird haha. Its something they said they will change in next patch? If so any ide on when then next patch is out? As i will wait and see then
