Crafting "dailies" so far...

I like the idea of crafting dailies.....but I feel like I'm missing something

Initially completing the "mastering" or first quest gives us 1k inspiration per trade skill approved for mastering.

After completing this quest there is ZERO guidance on what that inspiration was for, or where I could go next.

The Writ quests (crafting certain items and dropping them in a crate) give a whopping 300ish gold on turn in and nothing more; they are repeatable as many times as you want, and even same day... they don't cycle every day either.

1) Are we supposed to WANT to do these writ quests? the reward is not worth the materials.
2) Are we supposed to be able to do the same writ repeatedly on the same day?
3) I heard something about being able to CHANGE traits on gear once your char is a "Master Worker" is this true?

I'm not on the PTS, but can I craft them on another character and just give them to an alt to turn in or does it have to be that character that makes them?

You must actually craft them as the quest journal entries tick off as complete when you're at the station making the requested items. Looting from mobs or chests doesn't count towards the quests, either.

    Apparently this is not true.

Good they didn't make the same mistake FFXIV made with these.

I may need to make an addendum and possibly a correction here. I went to VR10 Reaper's March and a chest I looted contained a vanilla Nightwood Shield which was required by the current Woodworking Writ I have. As soon as I picked it up, the quest ticker counted it towards the goal. I looted another Nightwood Shield but this one had the Intricate trait on it and the quest did not flag it. So looting vanilla items that meet the description appears to satisfy the requirements of the quest.

I will double check the scenario with an alt crafting the items to be certain.

I had an alt create an item on my Blacksmithing Writ and then deposit it in the bank. As soon as my character with the Writ quest withdrew it from the bank, the quest marker ticked off and accepted the alt's crafted item as being acceptable.

So, it appears the items can be obtained:
    1. Through actual crafting by the character with the quest
    2. From an alt who crafts it
    3. From chest loot, provided it doesn't contain traits or special properties

The junk white weapon armor and weapons you find in furniture, backpacks,,etc. do not seem to be sufficient for these quests and they are not flagged. I looted one of these junk white items because my Clothing Whit quest asked for one. Looting it did not update the quest.

Rawl'kha has writ posts that give the quests so I will make a sweep through the major cities and towns of each faction to see how which ones offer them.

Elden Root and Marbruk also offer the Crafting Whit quests in addition to Vulkhel Guard, Rawl'kha, Daggerfall, Davon's Watch and Belkarth. I couldn't find them in any of the other DC or EP cities I visited such as Wayrest and Riften. I visited at least one city (usually the capital) in all of the AD, DC and EP zones. I wasn't going to clear quests and enemy mobs from the two main cities in Malabal Tor so I have no idea what's going on there. It would be very odd if that was the only AD zone that didn't offer them.

Given the problems with accessing the notice boards in the first DC and EP zones, I'd say the ZOS devs are still implementing these quests. I'm beginning to wonder if these will make 1.4 considering the amount of work left to do on them.

I had a thought about the provisioning quests. Unless you buy the mats from another player or they change the way the items drop then there could be issues. You cannot currently loot mats at any other level than your own. You cannot go to another area to get what you need like you can with other crafts. Aside from that at least this is one little boost for the crafters and traders out there.

I think another issue is the sheer number of mats. The three current Writ quests only require you to harvest four types of items - void ore, void bloom, shadowhide and nightwood. With the three other crafting skills, you could potentially need to harvest six or more mats for a single quest. A specific mat for the other three skills drops far less frequently than the four mats for the three skills currently targeted.

Another thought. These quests are only for VR characters. By the time you are VR you have most likely maxed your craft. So how useful is the reward of crafting xp really going to be? Unless this is just a test of possible wider introduction?

The one time only crafting introductory quests are the only ones that reward the crafting inspiration points and they can be completed by any character, even those freshly escaped from The Wailing Prison. They seem to be specifically designed for newcomers and low level characters.

The repeatable quests that require you to deliver goods to Craglorn do not offer crafting inspiration. They are for Veteran characters only.

These quests are not just for VR. With a VR character the deposit is indeed in Craglorn (by design no doubt to get people there), but on a new character the deposits are in a "regular" alliance zone. I tested the training and writs on a fresh AD character and the drop was right by the dock in the first city.

This is absolutely not true....you can loot materials at the level of the AREA you are in. They have done some tweaking of this so you can get some higher level mats if you are VR, but I can, at VR11, go to Davon's Watch and loot level 1 mats. As for higher level mats than your current level, well, you can't get other crafting materials higher than your own level unless you go to a higher level area, so I don't see what you are complaining about.

Well then they have made changes to drops. Used to be an issue with VR people getting low level drops - so they changed it to match the level of the provisioner - even though it caused problems if you wanted to level the craft later. What you are saying suggests they have changed it back to loot by area - which I prefer.

As for the current final version (Update 3), I have to agree with @seanolan.
Yes, once Veteran the blue and purple ingredients can be looted at an increased frequency. But still, all zone-related ingredients are also there.

I'm quite intrigued with these crafting writs. Haven't got the PTS though, due to a little lack of bandwidth + I want to experience the game with the updates already tested.
Anyone played Rift? If so, could you compare the writs with the Daily Crafting Quests - being some XP and some gold, but without the material rewards?
(even though the two games in whole cannot be compared at all)

The feedback I've sent ZOS about the new crafting writs basically said, "I'm not doing any more until there's a real reward for it" I burned 300 raw materials doing Clothing, Blacksmith, and Woodworking. In the end I got 3 useless white weapons, 2 useless repair kits, a handful of trait items, and about 1500 total exp towards the 1.4 mil I need to level. I think I got 1200 or so gold.

Some people are getting maps for nirncrux nodes, but really with such a low percentage chance of getting one, it's not worth the time it takes to harvest all the materials. I may do one every once in a while after saving up stuff from the outfitters or random nodes I pick up, but doing it daily is a waste of time. Just make money selling the raw mats to people who do the dailies, and buy your own nirncrux when the price goes down as it will if they're giving them out as rewards.

I helped out on pts with a few things and noticed that the bugs weren't fixed. 2 of them for example was the bug with writs, having the item but it not being recognized for writ quest.

Another was the empty containers in Dwemer ruins.

I'm just curious why these still went into the regular NA server if they were reported in pts before update was added to NA server?

I want the Provisioning daily rewards to be recipes that I still don't know. I've had enough Honey Brittle and Jazbay Wine recipes already, thank you. Or just give me ingredients.
