Right now I have a V12 NB and a V13 DK. I enjoy both very much but I think a Templar may be my calling...

The last few betas I play a temp and loved it, I made one as my first class and was waiting for my friend, When my friend finally signed up I wanted to do a duo nightblade, and never went back to my Temp.

Now I'm considering either starting over on a new character, possibly new faction, but I feel like I owe it to my first character to level him to max. I haven't played him for long time and completely lost with what I was doing.

What should I do?

I've been leveling my new Templar alt recently, and just got to VR1, and at least I have been positively surprised. I didn't try Templar at launch, so I can't really say how much it has been improved since those days, but currently I think it's really solid and fun to play class.

Templar is a fun class. Healing strangers can at times be an exercise in patience. Some people run around in damaged white armor, have strange builds, and are oblivious to their surroundings. For example, I rode past an anchor yesterday and a level 29 DK was trying to solo it. I could barely keep him alive as level 12 mobs were shredding him.

The class can be for you if you can keep a cool head when grouped with people who almost seem to be trying to be bad.

It's a powerful class. Do well with it and you'll make friends.

I'm a DPS Templar that's been slowly making people see that a Support DPS is a viable thing in CoH and DSA and more than likely other *** later on, especially when you're going for Dungeon achievements. It helps to have a healer that can properly DPS, and a DPS that can properly heal at times, even if we're a little lower than the others at most times.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

The thing that draws to me it the most is that I can be a very good healer and don't need a resto staff to keep my friends up.

I've heard a lot of people complain that they don't have any attacks, but looking at the skills they have I could really make use of most of them (I usually use a good bit of stamina weapons).

Well that's how it is currently, after Champion System and Spell crafting all classes will have completely changed and will be nothing like they are now.

I know my friend, and I look forward to it. As it stands now I got lucky that I found a good guild that lets me play as I want. In time things will be good for everybody and I'm optimistic for the future despite knowing better that things won't balanced right away lol

Up until a few days I had been playing a Templar caster and enjoying it. Easy, fun. Looks good.

I'm just not a fan of their healing options.

The thing that has been shocking to me is my damage output while tanking recently. Solar Barrage, Spear Shards, Empowering Sweep, and Blazing Shield can pump out 600-700 DPS in my experience thus far while tossing out the occasional breath of life to help heal. I use 5 piece VR 12 Warlock and 5 piece Unassailable. I don't have the control of a DK tank, but you can do solid damage while tanking and since you can easily armor and SR cap with unstoppable and channeled focus while not being tied to blocking as much (I still go sword and board for the extra armor from my shield, the occasional and rare times I get low on magicka, and for the 2nd 5 piece set bonus) due to Blazing Shield.

I've found that a full regen setup works without requiring a shield, as well, but Puncture's SR and Armor reduction do in fact have value to your group. I do wish I could hold aggro without spamming taunt, but we've been having fun as a group anyway.

This gear loadout works very well in PVP, too. I just mix in Harness Magicka to shield stack with Blazing, Shielded Assault, and Healing Ward.

Blazing spear is very good, especially because of the passive procs. People who say its not good? Don't know what's wrong with them. Aedric spear does a lot more damage then first glance if you use blazing spear/ blazing shield/ puncturing sweep, there is a ton of chances to procs. I love Templar for pve and PvP. That said I enjoy dk and my sorc too. They all play differently.
