Impale. What am I doing wrong?

Hears_Bright_Colors
Sorc has 200 health out of a possible 2500 or so. That's 8%. 3 impales, which all cost magicka and displayed it's animation, did not kill him. So is 8% not considered low health? Is the health bar inaccurate? Is it lag and what I see is not even close to what is actually happening? Is the skill just flat out unreliable? I don't see any lag with any other skill like this. It's bad enough my stealth skill is broken, but a nightblade with no cloak AND no execute?

For the love of whatever lore-appropriate god name, I beg you to fix the fundamental aspects of the game before layering on more zones/armors/facial expressions/factions/etc as neat as they may be. Do you add 3 more floors to a house with a cracked, sinking foundation?

I'm not even asking for class balance. I'm not asking for a lag free experience. All I would like is that when I press a button, that button does what it is supposed to in a reasonable amount of time. That's it. That's about as fundamental as a computer game gets.

I think in this case either hardened ward or healing ward were to blame. The sorc had 200 health left but had a 1,000 point shield up. Impale will do bonus damage in this scenario, but it likely wasn't enough to kill through the shield which the sorc was likely spamming.

I play a NB too, and I've hit certain players with 6-7 impales when they had under 25% hp to no avail. Spamming shields will keep anyone alive as long as they have magicka left, thats just the way it goes.

Thanks. That does make sense. I would have thought that I would have seen the shield magnitude on his health bar, but it may have been disappearing quickly/ too quick to even register.

I still have the bug where I activate impale and the animation plays but no damage registers. According to my cls. Not everytime but very often.

its likely that sorc was spamming damage shields. I myself don't think it should block executes, but not everyone is a sorc that uses them, so its not that much of a problem.

I'd also guess damage shield, if you have a very heavy magic build use Shadowy Disguise then Impale for the first one but this take practice and general patience because it slows down your execute time which is bad and Shadowy Disguise probably won't hold.

Why would you ever want to do that? Shadow disguise + impale is both a lot less damage and more magicka then 2 x impale in the same timeframe. And it happens later, giving your opponent one more gcd to get out of execute range.

My 1v1 targets don't get a chance to do anything about it because I'm not silly enough to waste CC and the risk of immunity at the start of a fight.

If a fight lasts longer than the normal 3 seconds it takes for me to kill someone then Aspect of Terror then Shadowy Disguise, Impale, Impale. I'm already in Shadowy Disguise if they break the fear or not.

I'm not sure how you think a critical hit Impale and then an Impale is less damage than an Impale and then another Impale unless you're someone that thinks DPS matters in PVP rather than controlled guaranteed burst when you want it.
