Should the servers be shut at night??

After repeated whining by various losing factions both sides of the pond, should ZoS shut the servers at night so that those who have "lives" or have to go to bed can wake up and not be upset that the map has changed colour?

Its seems that some are upset that they are losing to these people who apparently have no lives in this "GAME" so in the interest of all that is fair I would like to know what others think.

If we do think the servers should be shut down so those who cannot play the "GAME" later in the evening at what time do we suggest shut off should be??

10pm?? for those that are sent to bed with the cries of "but MOOOMMM they will take the keeps"?

11pm?? for those who need to go to work and send in the excuse to the boss "Im sorry I wont be in work today as I had to stop The gate of mnem from being opened??

Or is it a case of sour grapes and we should keep the server open all night??

Perhaps we should have a daily campaign from 6pm-8pm only, Sunday to Thursday as people usually go out for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

Faction with the most keeps at 8pm gets 100g and some random green loot.

Sure we all live in same timezone. If this time is good for your country doesn't mean that it's good for the rest of the world.

You forgot that there are only 2 servers not like others games are french, spanish, german, uk and more servers where could work daytime campaigns.

If you'd shut down all campaigns during the night, people who work late and can only play during the wee hours would complain, and rightfully so.

No matter what policy you follow, there will always be players who spend much more time ingame than others. And those will always have an advantage with respect to alliance points in PvP.

One way to deal with the problem that the whole map changes its colour in the night might be to scale the damage of the NPC guards in keeps. Or to install some automated siege weapons in keeps that guarantee some minimal defense. But, I guess there will be problems with such a strategy as well.

Hopefully they looked at usage stats and determined the time that they picked as being the least populated hours for a server.

Best option...create a big red button linked to the OPs account that allows him to turn the servers off and on when he can play. That way everyone wins by only being subjected to the times he can play.

If you want to attempt something like this, you need to create Cyrodiil servers to cover all time zones first. But this comes with its own list of problems.

Trolling aside....the current campaign layout and balance will eventually wear out the people who want fun competitive campaigns.

The OP was most definitely trolling - however - with the current "buff campaign" meta game - competitive healthy PvP won't be around long.

It will be massive zerg servers challenged by guilds / groups that want to farm the zergs for AP and ranks - and maybe one competitive campaign with a large queue...oh wait that's what we have now...never mind.

You wanna balance unbalanced timezones? Give us faction swapping. Pay real-world dollars to faction swap without losing the AP we have accumulated on our toons. Make them have completed all three factions story quests. A minimum of whatever.

I have pretty much stopped caring about PvP until this is resolved. It is not worth my time or effort to play on a PvP map like this, when it is off-hours PvE that wins the campaign.

Different campaigns should have different down times, so that everyone has a place to play, but noone can 'night-cap' the map like is happening now. Give the Aussies (and anyone else in that part of the world) their own campaign, and if they decide to continue not to fight each other, at least they won't be pissing on anyone elses fun.

Get better guilds and players in different time zones. Forcing people to corral into particular zones to compensate for player lack of enthusiasm gains nothing.

Australians play with persistent latency issues on a server we had no choice on playing on. We made do with what we had.

Maybe the other timezones should start doing the same.

Make only one PVP server. No 7 day, no special. One 90 day Cyrodiil.

Remove the silly point based system that's not needed, and results in nothing more then a drop of morale to certain populations.

The only thing a point based system is going to show is who has the more consistent population at any given time.

If there would of been one in DAOC on merlin, it would of probably showed Albion winning most of the time simply because they had more people and the relics more often.

Thing is we didn't care because there wasn't a point based system showing it.

People complain about night capping, day capping, oceanic capping. How about they tie NPC guards to population differences.

Example: As a player I would like to have stronger guards when hopelessly outnumbered by overwhelming odds.

IF EP population = locked
IF DC population = 2 bars

THEN EP attacking DC controlled resources result in guards having "buff" points. The delta between the population will scale +/- the buffs. If population levels are equal, no buffs are applied. Buffs could be in the form of more/less HP/damage/range or flat out more guards spawning. On the reverse side, DC attacking EP resources would have an easier time doing so.

Fine tuning:
Do not apply to scroll temples.
This could result in some big defensive AP ticks which may need to be reviewed

Overall I think this could really work out well.

Well looks like SOMEONE here has a few entitlement issues.

For asking that PvP be competitive, so that people actually care about winning? I have nothing against Aussies or anyone else who is in a different timezone...I just don't want them coming in and changing the scoreboard once everyone else goes to bed or work.

What is so wrong with having different campaigns for different timezones? It would be great if there were enough players to have all factions have a decent sized army at all hours, but that simply isn't the case.
