Here is a site that lists all dye by hue eso-fashion.com/dyes-by-color/

I have the Coldhabour Ash Black myself. I believe the only true black color is Legate's Black. You will need to make PVP Legate rank, which is pretty high up, I think it's like level 40. My opinion is the Black should be used as the secondary color, since it's kinda shiny, especially in certain lighting condition. I am thinking a darker shade of Blue or Green.

It's funny, cause my co-worker who is color blind also plays this game, but he has no interest in the whole dye thing.

All the colors go with Coldharbour Ash Black. Use whichever looks the best to you.

I have decided to use the ash black as the secondary color. it looks better like that on my nord steel armor.

Not to be funny, but if you can't tell the difference, then why care.

When I dye my characters, it's for my personal preferences, I really don't care if anyone else enjoys it.

Off the top of my head... He doesn't want his toon running around looking like a multicolored clown. It's not like the OP needs to forgo a small bit of vanity. We all have it. Every one of us.

well.... I would like to not look like an idiot. while I don't care what people think of me in general, it helps if I look like I have some sanity. I also want people to take me seriously, you think people would take me seriously in PvP if I looked like an idiot?

One of my mates is colour blind. He wears this t-shirt all the time.

One day I should tell him.

But for your armor colours, is there anyone in game you can trust and just try out colours as ask them for their view on how it looks?

so I found a combination I actually like. its on all redguard armor(though I think the helmet looks ridiculous, but im keeping it on cause I like the colors I put on it) I forgot the exact combination, but the colors are:
    coldharbour ash black
    varla white
    master gold
I think it looks cool. I have yet to be called an idiot. lol. so it cant be that bad.

Fair enough, as I said, I colour for my tastes and don't care what anyone else thinks, but I understand the other viewpoint too.

On my latest char, I've used Coldharbour Ash Black for whole armor (since it was a mix-match, no other color looked "same enough" on all pieces) and Hunding's Gold on trims and chest (redguard t1 chest is bugged, had to paint it gold instead of black, because it was literally pitch black, I was afraid my screen broke - and the trims on it don't work)

When in doubt, go black&gold.. it looks good on any heavy armor.

Any of the Blues or Grays would be a nice secondary color. Moonstone White is a good example of the gray that goes with this shade. Then for the third color, any other Blue or Gray, or just one of the shades like Red goes real nice with Black/Gray/Blue as a contrast.

I tend to run a Black Shade, Covenant or Superior Blue and then either another Blue or a Gray for the third shade. This on my Nightblade who needs to be a bit stealthy.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It depends on the kind of look you're going for, and the materials it's being applied to. Cold Harbor Ash Black seems to look pretty good on metal, while looking more charcoal grey-ish on cloth.

I've been playing around with it myself, using it as the main color of my Dunmer heavy armor, and then using other colors to accent it on the trim and cloth bits. Personally I like Red Diamond Red, Wayrest Royal Purple (which looks more like a rich blue than purple to me) and Pillager Purple or Covenant vanquisher Purple. Those are all bright enough to show up, yet don't make a stark contrast (they are slightly shiney though so it can kind of give a 'tron' effect which... maybe doesn't fit this world so well, heh). I also like it trimmed with Volunteer's Iron or Soul Shriven Pale - for more contrast with a black and silver look. Wyrd Tree Green actually makes a decent gold trim, and Dragonthorn Yellow makes a very light gold, sometimes more silver looking trim.

I'll try attaching a picture of three of the many variations I've tried. The left is wayrest purple, the middle is red diamond red and dragonthorn yellow, the right is just red diamond red and using a light jerkin to show the difference between the cloth and metal textures affecting the color.

If you want black base color, pick a Hlallu gold or any light gray for trim and almost any darker blues for third color.
