Allow us to craft costumes from the mats we have

Since I love many of the looks of low level gear, and know many do to, I would luv to be able to make whole costumes out of it, without the armor/bonus of course.

It will bring a whole other level of both fun and worth being a crafter to the game. It gets super boring fast, seeing all vr12 running around looking the same

make it a skill line under each of the crafts like

1/3 you can make costumes up to lvl 20
2/3 you can make costumes up to lvl 50
3/3 you can make costumes up to vr 12

Thanks for the suggestions, @Artemiisia! We're going to move this thread to the Crafting Discussion section so that other crafters can weigh in.

I think I would like the ability to craft gear but override it with a lower level skin. That, or in the dye station, allow me to select from lower level skins for each gear slot.

Example, if you're wearing heavy leather nord stuff, you can override the look with skins from each tier all the way through rawhide.

Or, for the crafted route, allow the crafter to select the motif, select a style and select a trait. You want to craft a heavy leather atmer jerkin, but you want it too look like the rawhide skin, so you select the "Stitched" style.

my reason for the limitation is, our goal is not to make the real gear and mats of the levels not matter anymore.

for me it should be using both mats if its used for vanity looks, so you use vr12 mats to make the armor, and what ever mats you need to make the vanity also as a choice.

I think I'd be happy with any implementation so long as I could go with the look of some of the lower level skins. Some the lower level skins, at least to me, look more attractive because of the more conservative designs (conservative as in less embellishments).

I like the idea of keeping lower tier mats in demand though. I also like this because it doesn't add a new material or resource to the game and recycles current ones in a context that is believable.

My only concern with making it a "costume" is that we only have -a- costume slot. I would want to be able to modify the look of each skin for each gear piece independently of other gear pieces.

maybe make it like the dye a gear slot for vanity gear as well, they have that in Age of Conan, where you can choose what you want as vanity and what gear you dont want visible, like belt/shoulder and well for the "kids" chest :)

I think that would be perfect. That is the standard way of doing it I think. LOTRO did something similar.

In FF14 you can "glamour" the look of one item onto another. But, in this case, it was tied directly to the item and not the slot.
