Tanking 101

So there still seems to be a bunch of people who don't know how to tank in this game - I'll post a quick refresher.

Step one: be tanky, this is relatively simple - lots of health, lots of resistances, % DR where you can get it and effective blocking.

Step two: Engage - Blazing shield, NB invis, simply being a DK, streak, invasion, there are lots of ways to engage to choose from. A general rule of thumb however is that it's a good idea to do it in a way that gives you upfront survival. I personally have fun using critical charge > brawler with a 2 handed weapon, swapping to sword and board and activating blazing shield. It gives time for my healer to get to me while the mobs swarm over me. Other ways that work are invasion > talons / volcanic rune. Nightblade invis > manifestation of terror, *with bound armor active* Lightning form > streak.

Step three: let your dps and healer do their thing. By this I don't mean you're job is done have a rest, by this I mean make sure they CAN do their job. There's going to be an archer who drops a volley on your healer, bash him in the face - same goes for any smart arsed mob who thinks they're going to cast an ability on one of your dps or your healer while they're not looking. Also holding block infront of a shield charge WILL prevent wipes.

Step 4: If need be taunt that guy with a 2h sword, 5k hp and 500 damage light attacks off your healer, you have more health than anyone in your group and more resistance to damage. This is why - also for engaging.
