Help with Templar DPS

Hey guys!

I'm just wondering if, after this patch, things have changed enough for the templar to warrant me changing my build. I'm mostly focusing on heavy armor/2h DPS. My secondary set is a bow/heals. Works GREAT for soloing when I can't kill something up close. But I feel like I shouldn't need two DPS builds.

So I need some help from you guys, to hone my close combat DPS build and then free my secondary to do something else like healing or tanking.

Help?

really depends on what you are setting up for. If it is basic questing, then for me I simply do the following. Blazing spear, I start walking towards the mobs, cast solar barrage, and as I am on the group, I hit puncturing sweep, twice and everything is dead. For a boss I do the same thing except start with purifying light. I wear 7 light and the weapon does not matter. That's all I need for all questing. Dungeons, group content etc. then I use various abilities depending on my role/need

OK what about build, how many points into each thing...and why light armor?

Sorry. I am 27 magica, 22 health 0 stamina, and Rank8 at moment. I wear all light armor simply because of all the passives you get from light. I use no melee attacks so stamina is for dodging and breaking CC. I have resto staff and secondary weapon changes depending on what I am leveling. I put all magica enchants on armor, all magica regen on jewellery, and weapon enchants are magic damage with magica returns. Mind you all this is for simple questing. Once I am rank 12 and do trials/PvP I will adjust I am sure, but for questing, this set up makes things super easy. All my Templar passives for each tree is maxed

All i ever did for levelling was all light (before I found out it was OP, was making him healer anyway and took light armour) around lvl 4 found it that hey that 1st ability in aedric spear is nice i just kept on spamming that 3-4 times and casting selfheal once in a while untill I hit vr12 - now im here and PvPing and really loving Dawns Wrath line, specifically eclipse or any of its morph!

Solar Flare > Reflective Light > Silver Shards= Win.

I've been using that combo ever since the beginning, never let me down yet, that combo kills absolutely everything. It's of course not meant for large groups, but maybe groups of 2-3 enemies. Usually I'm not fighting anymore than that anyways.

Doesn't use much Magicka, and Mixes Stamina into the combo. I usually use a restoration staff in order to refill Magicka if needed.

Devs have said multiple times that if you are a templar having problems with DPS, you should re-roll a DK or Sorc and stop complaining.

Threads like this always make me sad. I want to help be then i realize i have no idea what most the templar skills are called and see how silly i sound!...

I normally start with the AoE spear from the sky thing morphed to dot as well. Then vampire bane(i know that one!) and then finish up the group with the spear 4 pokey heal ability. Going mostly magicka i usually go inner light and extended ritual or breath of life for the last 1. If it is a boss i have been known to stick volcanic rune in or the spear throw knock down since they are much easier to time and keep a cc'able boss locked up with then the 4pokey spear thing that stuns on the last hit.
