i was laying away this morning and realised this will turn into the whole "trim your armor" scam all over again but with dyes. it's minor but people DID fall for this and quite often so we need this countered before it's done!
PLEASE REPLY TO ME WITH @dsalter otherwise i'm likely to miss the reply if its not my own thread

Ah Runescape..... Fortunately from what I see of the dye system it's you dye your armor, due to the factor that you must unlock colors through acheivements and you must be wearing the armor to dye it. This definitely precludes ever dying crafted sets due to binding when worn.

I seem to recall a ZOS post saying dyed armor binds it to you? Though I'm not sure what the scamming potential is for dyed armor in this game. It still has a tooltip explaining what it is, how would the colors make any difference?

Yep, dyed items are supposed to be bound upon dying, and you do have to equip to dye anyways.

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

Yes, that's correct. The moment you dye any armor, it becomes bound.
After you're done, a confirm window pops up telling you that you won't be able to trade or mail those items.

thank sheo for that, was thinking of the non set crafted items or random non sets would still stay unbound

even if dyed armor didnt bind to player, you would be a moron to buy something based entirely off its equipped look and not based on its stat card, which even in trades is readily avilable..
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

as stated above, runescape had a special design armor which made no difference from the common one but because it was uncommon older players would scam newer players by offering to "trim" it into the better looking one for ingame currancy, which resulted in the whole scammer gains the innocent player didnt

again over something as trivial as looks, so yes people do fall for it, even i went an aquired this set ingame for it's look once

Technically, you get warned BEFORE applying the dye that it will bind it to your character.
