Leveling class skills. I don't understand it.

So I have seen a guide about a pvp build that I'd want to have at end-game. I have tried leveling using that build but it turns out to be really bad for leveling until you are higher than level 15 and unlock some attacks that are mandatory for this build to work.

I have talked about this issue with the poster of that build and he said it's not meant to be used for leveling.

This build involves a dragon knight using sword and board and wearing light armor. However, as I said, some attacks that are absolutely required don't get unlocked until levels 15-20, and I have noticed I'm getting my ass handed back to me by mobs at level 10 if there are more than 1, due to not doing enough damage nor having enough utility while wearing light armor in melee.

So I have looked into a leveling build, however all of them swear by 2hander and heavy armor, which puts me in a bit of trouble.

1. How am I supposed to ever raise the sword&board skill line if I'm using a build revolving around 2hander ?
2. If I reach 50 with a 2hander build, when am I supposed to raise the shield skill line, as hitting vet content with baseline sword&board is an epic fail ?

When you hand in quests, switch to sword and board and change out any skills you prefer to level.

I recommend Wykkyds Outfitter for this task as you can switch entire skill/gear sets with the push of a button once set up.

edit: You will also have to install Wykkyds Framework for Outfitter to work.

It really is a pain in the butt. I advise you at least have your leveling and PvE build maxed befor attempting to max your PvP build. Trust me on this. Nothing stinks worse than getting to VR content and getting rolled over by mobs because you're using low level skills.

I have to admit, leveling those higher level skills sucks. You aren't quite finished on your main skills yet, but they expect you to level the other skills too with limited slots. On my sorc it was gravy because most of the skills I needed were all low. Leveling my NB has been a damn nightmare because the skills I need are all high level.

Its not that relevant what you do for leveling weapon. I changed both weapons at v1 and got both to 50 by v3 with training traits. I would recommend going 5 heavy 2 light or medium( the one you want to end with) with training on the two. Remember before u level and take passives all armor is exactly the same it just has armor rating/trait, that's all u get. As Breton with 15% light leveling bonus I leveled heavy and light to 50 before finishing first alliance with this set up. Then switched to 5 light 2 heavy at vet.

    1. Equip Sword and Board + one skill or two from the line, when you hand in quests. That way you get max exp.

    2. You can do VR zones with Sword and Shield under-levelled. I did (even pre-nerf) on my Templar. As long as you have points in the first two passives it's not to bad. Use your best class skills to kill stuff, than weapon doesn't matter as much.

I use Wykkyds outfitter for leveling skills. I switch to my "level skill" bar, when handing in quest. It's a lot of work to manually slot them back and fourth.

Can also level up skill lines in Coldharbour AoE'ing mobs, to catch up. VR counts as level 50, so as long as enemies are above 45 you get loads of exp (you do miss out on points towards VR ranks).

Than if course there's weapons and apparel with training traits.
