(updated 7/21)

Hi,
I wanted to try to put together a few types of Set combos based on this thread: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/118944/1-3-0-armor-and-weapon-sets/p1

GOAL: Spell cost reduction
Sets: Warlock (2 armor, 3 jewelry) + Magnus' Gift (5 armor)
Detail: the 5 piece on Magnus gives 8% chance for spell to be free, while Warlock gives Magicka when you get low.

GOAL: Spell Crit
Sets: Wise Mage (5 armor), Wrath of the Imperium (3 jewelry)
Detail: 18% Spell crit = 8% Wise Mage, 10% Wrath
(Recommend last 2 armor as Torug's for +spell damage)

GOAL: Spell Damage
Sets: Torug's Pact (2 armor), Martial Knowledge (5 armor)
Detail: 24 Spell damage = 8 Torug, 16 MK, +5% damage from MK
(plus 3 pieces of +spell damage jewelry)

GOAL: Weapon Crit
Sets: Berserking Warrior (3 jewelry), Hunding's Rage (5 armor), Night Mother's Gaze (2 armor)
Detail: 16-26% Weapon Crit = 4-14% Berserking, 8% Hunding, 4% Night Mother

GOAL: Weapon Damage
Sets: Way of Fire (2 armor), Affliction (2 armor), Dreugh King Slayer (3 armor), Twice-Fanged Serpent (3 weap/jewelry)
Detail: 48 Weapon Damage = 14 WoF, 12 Affliction, 16 DKS, 16 TFS (plus 39 armor penetration)

GOAL: Defensive
Sets: Bastion of Heartland (5 armor) OR Shield of Valiant (5 armor)
Detail: 5% less damage from players, and either 20% less damage from Seige + AoE or Break Free -40% cost (your preference)

Again, please post corrections if I have too much due to set pieces not being available in the slot types.

Thanks.

The set combos should not be taken with only looking at the set bonuses.
    GOAL: Spell Crit
Sets: Wise Mage (4), Ice Furnace (3), Wrath of the Imperium (3)
Detail: 22% Spell crit = 8% Wise Mage, 4% Ice Furnace, 10% Wrath

Ice Furnace is not Light Armor so you will be loosing the 5 pcs light armor bonus which is 10% spell crit. You are trading 10% spell crit for 4% spell crit plus still loosing the other powerful light armor passives. Its a very bad trade off.

Dont build gear without looking at the bigger picture and overall class/skill build goals. It will end with lower overall effectiveness.

Do the melee stat combos work for bows or just up-close damage dealing?
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

    GOAL: Spell cost reduction
    Sets: Seducer (5) + Magnus' Gift (5)

Will not work. Armor and Weapons can only be created and not Jewelry. At most a player can have 9 pieces of crafted gear though most will use only 8. (7 armor and 1 weapon). As Seducer and Magnus are both crafted both cant be worn for the 5 pcs bonus

    [
    b]GOAL: Spell Crit[/b]
Sets: Wise Mage (5), Wrath of the Imperium (3)
Detail: 18% Spell crit = 8% Wise Mage, 10% Wrath

This is a very potent set if using a D-Staff and want spell crit. I would recommend doing Wise Mage (4) and Wrath of the Imperiun (3) with Night Mothers (3). This will give you the 22% spell crit. (skipped the 5 piece Wise mage set because its possible to get spell pen from other sources). Please note that Impenetrable is very power and will this is easily negated.
    GOAL: Spell Damage
Sets: Elf Bane (4), Martial Knowledge (4), Stygian (2)
    Detail: 35 Spell damage = 12 Elf, 16 MK, 7 Stygian

Elf Bane is heavy armor, Martial Knowledge is light armor, and Stygian is Medium armor. Thus breaking up a ton of passives which will hurt the overall build. With new Spell Damage soft cap there a player can just enchant rings and reach it without issue. I would consider this a bonus on gear and not actively gear for it.

    GOAL: Melee Crit
    Sets: Berserking Warrior (3), Hunding's Rage (2), Night Mother's Gaze (2), Deadly Strike (3)
Detail: 22-32% Weapon Crit = 4-14% Berserking, 4% Hunding, 4% Night Mother, 10% Deadly Strike

Bersker Warrior and Deadly Strike both can not be worn do to conflicting slots. With melee crit from melee armor if building a melee crit build would recommend remaining slots with a medium armor set if able.

    GOAL: Melee Damage
Sets: Way of Fire (2), Affliction (2), Dreugh King Slayer (3), Twice-Fanged Serpent (3)
    Detail: 48 Weapon Damage = 14 WoF, 12 Affliction, 16 DKS, 16 TFS (plus 39 armor penetration)

Could work and be interesting to see as a Heavy Armor build. The Affliction set is currently a pain in the ass to obtain though.

    GOAL: Defensive
Sets: Bastion of Heartland (5), Shield of Valiant (5)
Detail: 10% less damage from players, 20% less damage from Seige + AoE, Break Free -40% cost.

Wont work due to conflicting slot issues. Plus a player is mixing up medium and heavy.

I think we can improve on your crit-based build. (Assumes light armour):

    Wise Mage Set (3 items not 5) non-ring (8%)
    Soulshine (3) rings n'fings (4%)
Wrath of the Imperium 3 items (10%)

For 22%. The main point here being you don't need 5 pieces of a set.

Night Mother (3) non-ring (4%) is another choice to play around with...

a more sensible reply would be something along the line of:

"i appreciate the effort to put into this. However, it seems you have overlooked the fact ice furnace is not LA and will cause you to loose the LA full set bonus.. Please revise at your nearest convenience. thanks again for tackling the new armor sets and sharing your research with everyone."

Sorry if my responses came off a little rude as that was not my intention. The OP is on the right track trying to come up with new build combos and it will make his character that much stronger for it.

Just need to be careful when building set combos to have as much info as is available first. There are so many factors that a player should take into account.

1: What slots the set bonuses can fill.
2: What type of armor. Light, Medium, Armor.
3: What is the overall design of the players build.
4: What is the availability of the items.
5: The Traits on the gear (mainly for PvP)

Weapon Crit Build... This can be improved on!

    For Dual Weild or Sword/Board.
Medium Armour (for Weapon Crit +21% - Dexterity Passive maxed)
    Berserking Warrior +4 - 14% Crit (Rings/Pendant)
    Night Mother (4) +8% Crit
    Skirmisher Bite (3) +4% Crit
    or
Ravager Set (2) +4% Crit (leaves a spare slot to play with so add this to an existing set)
    Hunding's Rage (2) +4% Crit (Weapons)

    For a total of +20% - 34%

    For 2-Handed or Staves players
Medium Armour (for Weapon Crit +21% - Dexterity Passive maxed)
    Berserking Warrior +4 - 14% Crit (Rings/Pendant)
Night Mother (4) +8% Crit (no weapons)
    Ravager Set (2) +4% Crit
    Hunding's Rage (2) +4% Crit

    For a total of +20% - 34% crit

Does not include the medium armour passive or anything else.

ALl change on the above... the Berserking Warrior bonus applies only if you wield a 2-Handed Sword...

Which essentially makes it useless for these builds. There are other changes in that too!

2 pvp rings with spell dmg
1 Arcane diamond necklace spell dmg

What would that give in total? 18% crit, 40ish spell dmg? and the max magicka..
Are there PvP imperium rings with Arcane or are they only health?

    Weapon Crit Dual Wield:
    Armor:5 Hunding's Rage+2 Night Mother -12%
Weapons:2 Night Mother - 4% (and 4% spell crit as well!)
    Jewelry:3 Berserking Warrior - 4-14%

+20-30% weapon crit total when dual wielding. Hunding's Rage and Night Mother can also be switched depending on which 5 set bonus you'd rather have more weapon power or have armor reduction. Getting all of that just from set bonuses is pretty sweet. This build is all crafted+jewelry, so it has a lot of flexibility.

    Alternatively:
Weapon Crit Dual Wield and Bow:
    Armor:5 Hunding's Rage+2 Night Mother -12%
Weapons Slot 1:2 Night Mother - 4% (and 4% spell crit as well!)
    Weapons Slot 2:Eagle Eye Bow - 4%
    Jewelry:2 Berserking Warrior + 1 Eagle Eye- 4%

    +20% Dual Wield
    +20% Bow
I'll probably use this set. I'd be giving up the extra range from the full eagle eye set, but that extra 4% weapon crit will likely be worth it. I just need to get my hand on some of those berserking warrior rings. Aside from the bow, everything here is crafted. You could replace the Eagle Eye set with Poisonous Serpent, but there is no reason to and the PvP bow comes with a pretty sweet enchantment on it.

Hopefully I did all of my math and junk right. Otherwise, call me on it. I've been making stamina work for me in PvP, and these sets are certainly going to help.

As for weapon damage, I'm a nightblade, I hit or exceed the hard cap a lot of the time. Give me extra crit any day.

So everyone discuss about PvE Sets? Cause I don't see any reason to go on Crit Builds in PvP. Wasted Stats, as long as most High Level Player have their 60% Impen as Trait on their Armor and to beat a Low Level Player, high Crit isn't necessary.

Therefor I would more like of looking how to get the most SpellDMG and WeaponDMG out of the Sets.

    Armor 4: Torug's Pact - 7 SpellDMG + 14 Weapon DMG
Armor 3: Ashen Grip - 14 Weapon DMG
Ring 2: Light of Cyrodiil - 8 SpellDMG
Weapon 2: Twice Fanged Serpent - 16 Weapon DMG

    Total: 15 SpellDMG & 44 Weapon DMG.

    Neclace slot still free.

Just to note, A.) most pvp'ers won't go past 4 pieces of impen generally, and B.) you will be able to reach 63% physical crit through gear alone in v1.3 dual-wielding, add in things like another +9% from Nightblade passive and even 6% from khajit and you can end up with 72-78% base crit vs. most people's 9%-per-piece epic gear x4 = 36% crit reduction ;).

My Nightblade will be running 72% phys crit in v1.3, non-khajit unfortunately or it'd be 78 :p. It may end up as 64% if I change one of the sets out, but I probably won't. On top of that on any hard targets and as a matter of course in general, I'll be popping a +39% phys crit potion as well, bringing me to anywhere from 111-119% effective crit vs. whatever impen someone has.

    In short, no, crit isn't a pve-only stat :).

As I said, my weapon damage hits the hard cap fairly regularly with the skills I use. There is no reason to go all out on weapon damage for me, especially since the soft cap is being raised and it'll be even easier to hit or exceed 200 weapon damage. And yeah, what he said. My weapon crit is going to be pretty insane, so unless you go all impen, I'm going to hurt a lot. I use a crit build currently, and I don't have any problem putting most people down in PvP. Also, I play on smaller campaigns normally, so there is quite a bit of PvE involved. I'm usually the guy taking out the archers and mages in keep offense so they don't absolutely destroy all of the people ignoring them.
