Are these three skills lame?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with some extra skill points and have these three passives left in destruct and resto staff lines. They all sound pretty meh to me, but maybe they're better than I think. Any advice/opinions most welcome!:

1) Ancient Knowledge: 10% faster heavy attacks. This is just a filler low damage skill, so why should I care?

2) Cycle of Life: Up to 10% more damage (I assume just with resto staff heavy and light attacks) the higher your health is. I can see this being handy if you use resto staffs to solo or primarily to DPS, but I only use them for healing. Seems not that important for my purposes.

3) Absorb: this returns magicka every time you block spells with resto staff. Well I have done a little blocking, tho it think for physical attacks with my resto staff and can't recall even doing so for spells. I usually like to keep out of harms way when healing, but maybe this is good for healing in vet dungeons or other taxing assignments. Overall doesn't seem worth the points.

Cycle of life boosts -all- damage, it's considered one of the best passives in the game and, combined with Resto staffs magicka regen, the best weapon for single target damage using class Skills

Oh it works on all damage, well that's different! (Looks super for DPS builds, tho not healing still.)

The other two, ancient knowledge and absorb, just a waste of points?

Absorb is kinda 'meh', it's not great but might be more useful in small scale pvp as a healer (I know that any time I pvp as a healer I get focus-fired by the enemy, and I usually burn magicka really fast trying to keep myself and everyone else alive).

Ancient knowledge helps since the heavy attacks with destruction staff are slow to begin with. I imagine it helps more when using the lightning staff attack, since it's channeled with a burst at the end, but overall not many people will ever even use heavy attacks over light attack clipping or class abilities.

I believe the passive affects heals also, Templar heals anyways. I'll double check when the servers come back up. Anyway, all the resto staff passives are worth getting, except the first one, imo. for PvP and PvE.

does cycle of life work off the precentage or the amount of your health? (100% health better as apposed to 2000 health better than 1500 health)

I do have absorb and I'm not saying it doesn't work but it might be a good place to skip a point. i have never noticed a noticeable return of magicka from this skill.

Yeah, it's basically one of the best passives in the game and makes using most other weapons pointless if you want to do damage with your class attacks (which pretty much everyone is doing).

Well not me. There is not a single DPS build I've found as a sorcerer where I only want to use class abilities. Consequently, I have no use for cycle of life.

Sorc c.frag spam with fury execute is where u use resto-resto.

sorc c.shock with fury execute is where u use destro-resto.

either way, if youre not using a resto staff in some way you are gimping your build.

If you're some other sorc build, then I dunno what else to tell ya. Lol

    So?

You're gimping yourself, nothing wrong with that but don't pretend my point isn't valid because you're not doing it.

Well you last two responses: I use destruction staff skill crushing shock to proc crystal fragments. Without a destruction staff, what skill should I use instead? Using a destruction staff to, well, destroy stuff is gimp? What's the setup you use with resto staff which is > all other single target/solo DPS builds?

Please re-read my post. You should be using a resto staff.

I don't doubt you, but I can't understand the shorthand you use in your post. Could someone please tell me which skills a sorcerer should be using with a resto staff for solo/single target DPS? Thanks!

There is no reason not to take all restore. 10% damage is really good, I can't imagine any circumstance where that is not obvious. I heal as well but with the amount of skills in this game I DPs too. Have done most dungeons and trials as both. Diversify your build.
