People sitting on their crafted orders that are mailed?

I can't be the only one having trouble with people placing orders for crafted goods, and then sitting on the emails for days at a time?

I submitted a trouble ticket, and consequently a player harassment ticket for an item I mailed awhile back. The 'customer' had been sitting on the item for a week and when I mailed ESO about it, they claimed that mail should be auto returned after 3 days if not accepted. Well, as I have previously stated it had been a week and my item still had not been returned to me. A day or so later I whispered the player and he replied that he was 'just *** with me, and had no intention of buying my product' and CONTINUED to sit on the email and my item (and CONTINUES to do to this day two weeks later). (which is when I submitted the player harassment ticket) to which I was replied to with the same canned response as the first trouble ticket.

TLDR: What do you crafters do to avoid people sitting on your emails?

If you're involved in a craft that exceeds about 5k, always do it with trades and not mail. I don't know what the value of your craft was, but after I send items I usually don't pester them after I tell them I've sent the mail.

The only exception would be cross-alliance, but even then I'm hesitant to actually take the order if it exceeds that amount.

It comes off as greedy asking if they're going to take it or not. It's possible they're trying to farm gold to even afford it because they couldn't at the time of the order. Patience is a virtue when dealing with COD crafts.

Also, guilds are reliable for being honest with requests. Zone chats are not, especially at lower levels.

Well, you bring great arguments to the table. And it's not even about the gold. It's more about the time I take away from the game in order to actually FILL the order. Log out baby sorc, log in crafter, gather mats, port around to 2 or 3 crafting stations, email, log back in to baby sorc.

I think just avoiding email business with anyone that's not in one of my trading guilds may just be the answer I was looking for. You zone chat me? You're in the alliance I am. Meet me.

    Thanks for your insights!

It's a bug, report it as such. The reason for the 3 day return has to be to stop exactly this kind of crap.

As it is a bug, they should make you whole as well.

I found and installed an add-on that keeps track of mails sent for EXACTLY this reason. I can't say with certainty exactly WHAT it is I sent at this point 2 weeks later. But I won't get had again like this.

Like Poodle said above, it is a bug. Mails are supposed to be returned after 3 days and if it hasn't been returned than it's not working as intended and should be corrected.

Submit it as a bug report only and try to keep the harassment and other issues out of the conversation to avoid confusion with customer service.

    What do I do?

I avoid COD orders like the plague. Everything I do is face to face. If somebody wants it that badly, they can meet you. And if they insist on doing COD I tell them up front I charge more for doing so.

Demanding to do COD should be a warning sign anyway that something about the deal is going to go bad.

But if it is a full armor set or multiple items, I send a partial order with a partial charge. I send them with a note that I'm gathering mats to finish the remainder of the order. When I see the initial payment I email the remainder.

Don't use COD. Meet up and trade instead...

Hi, how does one setup trades for crafted item sets. I'm currently looking for a crafter for some item sets for level 50, Level 49 atm.

I would say either make a post on a site such as Tamriel Foundry (these types of posts are against the rules in this forum) or ask in zone or guild chat in game, that is how I pick up most of my orders.
If you are on the NA server feel free to pm me with the details and I can see what I can craft you.
