No it didn't unless I'm woefully misinformed on what "official" means.

Because a post from the community manager isn't official. Gotcha. It's all so clear now. It makes sense now on why zenimax doesn't post much, because the green posts aren't official.

no, tamriel foundry is. eso seems to think tamriel foundry is more important than thier entire subscription customers. and if u think i joking then look it up and youll see.

Probably because of how difficult it is to post here. I never got an "invitation" number when I bought the game (online, if it matters), and wasn't able to create a login to the forums. Did a search for it, and the basic takeaway (my problem apparently was in no way unique) was just use the foundries forums. I figured (perhaps incorrectly) that the devs would pay more attention to their own site though so went through the hassle of contacting CS to get a login made for me.

    This compounds it.

Posting here first and then linking it on Reddit for the OP who made that thread would have been the right move.

Edit: Not something I'd unsub for.. or even get to butt-hurt over really... but I feel that players who feel this kind of behavior is disrespectful are justified. I live and work in Japan. If ZOS was a Japanese company Mrs. Jessica would either be issuing a long apology right now or cleaning out her desk. ZOS is hardly a Japanese company though so rules of the road are different I suppose.

A companies goal is normally to make a profit. All agree? Good.

MMO companies revenue comes from players paying for it. Agree?

MMO companies gather feedback in an ongoing bases from as many different valid sources as possible, to make an overview on their player numbers and feedback. This is how they gather the most correct feedback about the product, to work with.

The homepage is normally the default site. But if the feedback is low, or simply do not reflect their numbers, and % of other sources feedback, then their focus will be on the most valid, not positive or negative, but in numbers and issues, optional sources so get as correct feedback to base their management on.

Wildstar is a vastly different MMO then ESO, with a complete different player base, but had the same problem, just as we have now.
Their own site did not reflect the feedback and numbers they had available.

    https://forums.wildstar-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/78977-suggestion-stop-announcing-stuff-on-twitterreddit-before-the-official-website/

In short, we lost our value to be a prime source of correct information about ESO. Both negative and positive. Still, ESO do currently share information here. But need to look elsewhere for proper feedback. (Negative as positive)

Why this happen, I leave up to us as a community, to reflect on.

If you still do not understand, then do the math. If 100 people on this site say A about ESO, and 10 000 from another valid source says B about ESO, which they can see reflects in their current player base. A business must adapt, or loose costumers.

I would very much like to regain their trust they have shown in us. And for you who do not understand business, trust goes both ways.

The best power you have, is the power of the pocketbook. They listen to that quicker than any forum post.

Trusting a company outside of that companies attention to profits is flawed. However, a company that holds to it's vision and ideals can be a diamond in this day and age. Like dealing with a person with morals. Annoying, but dependable.

Okay, they don't want our feedback to them. Fine. But they still should give us information from them trough the official channels - including the forum. There's a group of players who get news only from the official site (never even posting, just passively reading) and shouldn't be required to make another account, subscribe to some Tweeter feed or whatever.

Neglecting your own forum is just unprofessional and insulting to the players. How many different media do they use to make announcements? Facebook, Twitter, this forum/main site, apparently Reddit. It's not eleventy billion accounts to manage. Post something in one place, how long does it take to copy&paste the message on the forum? A minute? Five? Ten?

I was cross-posting news to three websites and somehow it was doable, but a professional community manager can't?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not angry about this situation and I appreciate the work Jessica, Gina and others are doing. I really do. What I'm angry about are the apologists saying that ignoring your own forum is okay and we have only ourselves to blame.
