I've heard of an amazing DK build with destrostaff and flames I believe, but I don't know the specifics. Can anyone help? What abilities do you get? What armor to use?
I am running a fire DK mage. I open with Wall of Elements as I run into the midst of a group of enemies, fiery breath, then dark talons.. Most things die right there. If not... a quick impulse definitely finishes off ALL trash mobs in range. I keep dragon blood in the last slot just to have a way of healing in the uhoh moments, but that only happens in boss fights where you can't crowd control them with talons.
Light armor(5), and 2 heavy. Most of your battles won't last more than 4 secs... I rarely even need to shoot from my staff anymore, unless its to finish off a single survivor that ran out of range.
Couple of variations but Falmer has it correct. I like to mix it up a bit with Dual Wielding as well. You lose the wall of fire but can use whirlwind until you run out of stamina. I just like Dual wielding for cool-factor and its still viable and helps more with Bosses. Destro-staff will win you more fights though hands down. Also, Volatile Armor is good to pop while in the middle of those Taloned mobs, gives you a ton of armor (usually to soft cap) and hits all enemies for a bit of damage. I wear all light armor for magicka bonuses. Volatile Armor still boosts me into the soft cap .
Loving my fire mage. Using 7 piece light. Inferno staff + resto staff. I don't use talons. I know it's op right now, I just don't like the spell. Costs so much mana and weird to say this, I feel like it's too strong. But everything else is good. Pull with heavy, use my wall when multiple mobs, fire breath , impulse, I have Searing strike and force shock for some single target flavor. Resto staff on the second slot for some more defensive stuff. Volatile armor, dragon blood, regen, etc. Not sure how the build will hold up in veteran zones, but I'm up to 44 with it and just been a blast.
